Have any of you been missing Dina Manzo since she bid farewell to Real Housewives of New Jersey?  Well, fear not, because she's back…and her name is now Alessandra DiGiacomo.  That's right!  Dina's an actress now, y'all!

I'm actually really excited about this news.  Following in the footsteps of Real Housewives of Atlanta's NeNe Leakes, Dina has landed a role on an upcoming scripted dramedy.  The series, called Tainted Dreams, portrays the drama among soap opera actors behind-the-scenes of their daily stories (was my grandmother the only one who called soap operas her "stories"?).  How very Melrose Place of Dina!

Celebuzz has the scoop on Dina's new acting gig. The show was created by soap vet Sonia Blangiardo who has some work on some unknown soaps (#sarcasm) such as All My Children, General Hospital, and One Life to Live…just to name a few.  In addition to Dina, it stars Anthony Wilkinson from My Big Gay Italian Wedding as her brother.  Art imitating life?

Dina's character Alessandra is described as a “smart and successful New York City corporate CEO whose younger gay brother will face unexpected circumstances due to his sexuality.”

The show's creator shares, “I created the role of Alessandra with Dina Manzo in mind, and we are thrilled to have her join our cast. Her constant support of the gay community and her talent makes her the perfect choice for this series.”

It's the perfect role for Dina–according to Dina.  The former reality star explains, "Coming from a large Italian family, I was immediately drawn to the character of Alessandra's family dynamic."

Tainted Dreams came into existence after production for One Life to Live shut down last November.  Sonia Blangiardo recalls, “I was struck by the loss of this unique art form that had been such an integral part of NYC for decades. I wanted to somehow capture my own two decades working behind the scenes of three different NYC-based soaps."

Dina couldn't be more excited about the role, adding, “As a long-time fan of One Life to Live, I am excited to be part of a project centered around the rich, proud heritage of NYC-based daytime drama."

No word yet on how disappointed Caroline Manzo will pretend to be upon hearing this news…nor do we know how green with envy Teresa Giudice will be–although I won't be surprised to see her popping up as a guest star on Days of our Lives.  Just kidding.  Days is far too high brow for Tre…am I right, MarlenaJohn BlackBo and Hope?  Anyone?  #crickets
