The Public Reacts To Kim Kardashian And Kanye West’s Vogue Cover

Kim Kardashian Kanye West Vogue Cover

And the backlash begins…Anna Wintour can't be surprised that fashionable hell has broken loose since revealing Kim Kardashian and Kanye West will be gracing the upcoming cover of Vogue. Sure, the magazine's editor-in-chief is the unlikely biffle of the angry tiny rapper, but I figured she'd stick to her guns about featuring Kimmie Kakes in the iconic magazine. Clearly, I was wrong! Anna even addresses her decision in her letter from the editor. She wants you to stop hating on Kim, y'all!

People reacted immediately to the announcement, with one celebrity going all vampire slayer on the situation. After learning the news, legitimate celebrity Sarah Michelle Gellar tweeted, "Well…I guess I'm canceling my Vogue subscription. Who's with me?" Her diss was retweeted almost 10,000 times and favorited more than 12,000. Ouch. In light of SMG's sting, Kim's bestie Jonathan Cheban felt the need to respond. Of course he did! Let's begin with Anna though, shall we?

Gossip Cop has obtained Anna's letter to her readers which begins, “Part of the pleasure of editing Vogue, one that lies in a long tradition of this magazine, is being able to feature those who define the culture at any given moment, who stir things up, whose presence in the world shapes the way it looks and influences the way we see it,”adding, “I think we can all agree on the fact that that the role is currently being played by Kim and Kanye to a T. (Or perhaps that should be to a K?).” Wait? Does Anna have jokes? Who knew?

She writes, “As for the cover, my opinion is that it is both charming and touching, and it was, I should add, entirely our idea to do it; you may have read that Kanye begged me to put his fiancee on Vogue‘s cover. He did nothing of the sort. The gossip might make better reading, but the simple fact of the matter is that it isn’t true."

The scary fashionista even gushes about Kim, which makes me wonder if this was written under duress. Yeezy is probably making her watch the Bound 2 video on a loop. Anna concludes, “There’s barely a strand of the modern media that the Kardashian Wests haven’t been able to master, and for good reason: Kanye is an amazing performer and cultural provocateur, while Kim, through her strength of character, has created a place for herself in the glare of the world’s spotlight, and it takes real guts to do that.” Guts or a sex tape?

Jonathan was much less eloquent with his response to Sarah Michelle, simply retweeting her comment and writing, "Do u matter?" Hmmm…when it comes to the battle between an actual movie star and a D-list hanger-on, I'll go with Buffy any day of the week.
