With a first name like “Shep,” Shep Rose was definitely meant to have a Southern Charm spin-off show, or at the very least, license for clever merchandise. Shep’s own show is appearing soon and it was even named after his Instagram handle “Relationshep.”
Shep opens up about his new show Relationshep and what we can expect. Thankfully, not much has changed, and he is still all about the good times.
Shep talked about his upcoming show in an interview for Bravo’s The Daily Dish podcast. He explained why his Instagram account is called “Relationshep” and it actually stems from a nickname he got years ago.
He revealed, “When I was twenty three, I moved to Charleston right out of college. I entered into this very serious relationship with this great gal in Charleston. My friends started calling me “Relationshep” because I wasn’t as fun anymore. My dad would call me and be like ‘Put your friends on the phone. You’re boring.’ He wanted to hear all about all of my escapades, but I was in love. There’s no doubt about it. That went on for about a year and a half and then we both moved to get other jobs, but my friends still like to make fun of me and call me ‘Relationshep.’ You can put ‘Shep’ into a lot of names. It’s fun.”
Shep being boring? I cannot imagine that. At all. Let’s hope that he is able to be find some balance in his next relationship.
What can the fans expect from the show? Shep explained, “On two levels, it will sort of open your eyes to the different types of people that are out there. Of course, everybody has a story about a date, a good date, a bad date, this, and that. And I hope it makes people laugh. I laughed a lot and I think the girls did too. I hope that shines through. It was a lot of moments you just couldn’t believe were happening, were happening.”
On Southern Charm, Shep is a part of a huge ensemble cast, but this time the pressure is on him. He explained, “It was intense. There was nowhere to run and nowhere to hide. I couldn’t sit in the corner and watch Thomas [Ravenel] and Kathryn [Dennis] go at it. All eyes were on me and it was intense.”
Shep added, “Having said that, I had a lot of fun doing it because I did get to be myself and I think you get to see different sides of me. I mean, I think the overriding characteristic is that I just enjoy having a good time. I’m fairly good at providing good times for those around me and I hope that shines through.”
I’m sure it will. If there’s anything we can count on Shep for, it’s a good time.
