Last night’s episode of Basketball Wives: L.A. was just a whole bunch of lunch. The ladies were meeting up left and right to gossip over whoever wasn’t invited to restaurant…and nine times out of ten, that person was Draya.
Imani and Malaysia meet for lunch. Draya has reached out to Malaysia, and Imani teases that the two will be new BFFs. Malaysia is unsure as to why Draya wants to meet up with her. Sure, she was compassionate about her situation, but that hardly means she wants to be buddy-buddy. Imani thinks it is Draya’s way of being manipulative.
Gloria heads to an audition for Cedric the Entertainer’s new show. Her first reading is dubbed “a practice round,” and Gloria says it’s hard to act as if she’s flirting with her crush when she is reading with an older woman. She is praised on her second go-round, but I don’t know if this is the kind of publicity Cedric the Entertainer was hoping for with his new endeavor.

The Govan sisters, who are still very much in the drama on the show, are dishing as to what is yet to come this season. In an interview with HollywoodLife, Gloria Govan discusses her relationship with fiance and L.A. Laker Matt Barnes, while her sister Laura teases about what’s happening in later episodes.
Gloria explains her love of Matt, saying, “A lot of people assume my relationship is perfect, although I don’t ever recall [claiming it is]. You get a great 3D view of our relationship this season. You’ll see us going to therapy. I think a lot of people will be surprised and confused, but that’s where our relationship was.”
She also discusses bringing the controversialDraya Michele into the group, a groupie jump-off lady Laura Govan isn’t going to be biffles with any time soon. Gloria elaborates, “I kind of feel like with Draya it’s sleeping with the enemy. I feel like she has potential to be a really cool person, if she got her priorities straight. She’s not someone I would call to go to lunch, but I don’t want to body slam her.” Well, that’s kind of nice, right?
Laura agrees, asserting, “You’re going to get surprised. It’s almost like a Lifetime movie. You’re going to be like, ‘What the hell?’ You’re going to be like, ‘Laura’s so shady.’” Who thinks that? Everyone? Laura reveals, “You’ll go through a couple weeks when you think everyone’s crazy. Then its all going to come full circle.” She also wants viewers to know it’s not all about cage-boxing and cat fights. She says, “I do want to get some key things out — like, we run foundations. We do things for shelters. Besides all the drama, there are a lot of things we do do as women.”
Laura continues, “I wasn’t on this show to be famous. I wasn’t trying to win an Oscar. I’m not sure if I’d do a second season if asked.” Well, there’s good news…she’s not expecting an Academy Award for her work on this reality show. Further, I’m glad to see she’s taking a page from the Bravo Housewives play book and saying she may not want to do another season. If she’s not asked back, it will be imperative she has these statements printed so it doesn’t look like she was fired.
Gloria, on the other hand, isn’t going anywhere if season two is a go. She exclaims, “I hope we get offered another season. I would jump on the opportunity.”
Bad editing or drama-avoiding no-show? If you’ve been following the craziness behind Basketball Wives: L.A.’s Kimsha Artest’s absence from recent episodes, the viewers may finally have a resolution. While stories swirled that Kimsha had gotten the freeze-out from producers, she is now insisting that she didn’t get cut out of the show. Instead, she maintains that she took herself out of the drama because she didn’t want to be associated with such cattiness.
In an interview with BlackSportsOnline, Kimsha explains, “I don’t want to be affiliated with the shenanigans, the drama, the back and forth…it’s uncalled for, it’s childish, and it’s just not me.” She goes on to explain the fake Facebook fallout, stating, “Anybody who read that could have known that’s not me. Period.” As for legal ramifications with the faux page, Kimsha continues, “We’ll definitely figure out who it is. I’ve got a good idea, but I ain’t gonna blow them up just yet.” When asked if there is any truth as to the rumored beef with her and Miami’s Shaunie O’Neal and Evelyn Lozada, Kimsha replies, “I don’t know Shaunie. I don’t know Evelyn. What beef?”
The producers of the VH1 spin-off seem to be on the same page, relaying that Kimsha wasn’t edited from the show, instead she just stopped showing up to film. While the show’s creators may not agree with how Artest left, they are corroborating her side of the story. The producers issued a statement saying, “When Kimsha Artest signed on to be in ‘Basketball Wives: LA,’ we were very excited to have her onboard. That is why we were confused and disheartened when after a limited number of days shooting she stopped showing up for filming. This is the sole and only reason Kimsha has not appeared on more episodes of the series. Her minimal coverage on the show was entirely her decision and not that of Shed Media, VH1 or Executive Producer Shaunie O’Neal. ‘Basketball Wives: LA’ continues to be a ratings success for VH1 every Monday night.”
Now that we’ve solved the mystery of the absent cast member, a new episode of Basketball Wives: L.A. (sans Kimsha) airs tonight at 8PM ET on VH1.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF KIMSHA’S STATEMENTS? WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE A SECOND SEASON OF BASKETBALL WIVES: L.A.?
Following the ambush on the recent episode of Basketball Wives LA, led by her costars, Draya Micheleis now speaking out on doing the show plus the way she was bullied treated by said costars.
Below are excerpts from Draya’s interview with Sister 2 Sister -
Tracy: Has the show been what you expected? Draya: It’s pretty much worse than I expected only because I’m always the topic of the discussion and I really didn’t expect to play such a major role
Tracy: Do you think they haven’t warmed to you because you’re not a wife? Draya: I think they don’t have a respect for me because I’m not with any basketball players. I don’t think it’s about not being a wife. It’s only two people that’s married; everybody else is just technically a babymama.
Tracy: Your co-star Imani Showalter called you “worthless.” She apologized, but why do you think she and some of the others have such a strong and negative opinion of you? Draya: They say a lot of things, but I’ve heard worse things from people who are more important. They’re not that important to me, but the things that they say are not that important. Everybody has dirt. Everybody has issues. If you can throw stones at somebody else, there’s obviously something going on with you. I don’t care to know about anybody’s personal life. I’m in my business.
Tracy: You’ve said on the show that you’re going to stop being nice. When? Draya: You can expect a lot of things. Just when you think it’s safe, it’s kinda not again. I can’t fly off the hinges at first … If I fight with everybody, there’s no more me. I know what I’m doing. I’m playing my part the way that I’m supposed to. I don’t kiss nobody’s butt.
On twitter, a fan asked Draya what the other ladies would have to talk about on the show if she wasn’t on it, she responded: “Menopause !!!! Lol” Ouch.
And while Draya, real name Andraya M. Howard, maintained on the show that the police report detailing how she neglected her son was fake, the reporter who first broke the news back in January insists the report was absolutely the real deal. Draya even went as far as to claim the reporter lost his job for doing the story — which also appears to be false. Below is a statement given by Philadelphia journalist Steve Henshaw -
“This item was published in the 9/16/11 edition of the Eagle about Howard’s court case. The article I wrote was based entirely on the police report (the affidavit of probable cause) that I had in hand. After Howard’s mother called to complain that the story was inaccurate, I called the police officer and he said the story was very accurate. Howard’s entering ARD status is tantamount to a guilty plea. Why would a judge order her to 40 hours of family counseling if he/she didn’t believe that what the police officer reported he saw/heard was true? Andraya Howard shows her character when she accuses the police and the paper of making up facts after she has under oath before a judge accepted the punishment.”
The original article written by Steve was published back in January. A new article was written in September, which revealed Draya was in fact sentenced for the child neglect case involving her son. Below is an excerpt -
“Howard was accepted into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program, which allows first-time offenders to clear their record after serving probation. She was sentenced in Berks County Court to two years of probation and ordered to attend family counseling and perform 40 hours of community service on a charge of endangering the welfare of a child.”
According to the original report (which is still up on the website), Draya — a former stripper — was arrested back in January of this year after her 7-year-old son called 911 at about 2 a.m. and told dispatchers he was home alone. He told a Patrolman he called his mother’s cell phone about 20 times to find out where she was. She said she was at a tanning salon and would be home soon.
Cops revealed the apartment looked like it had been ransacked, with women’s undergarments scattered throughout the living room. A small dog was in a cage, and dog feces and dog urine were in several places in the apartment. Cops witnessed Draya’s son getting a TV dinner from the freezer, standing on the counter and putting it into the microwave. Draya’s mom was then given custody of her son.
So there you have it folks! It appears Draya lied on the show about a reporter “faking” a police report. Plus why would anyone or any journalist for that matter go through the process of falsifying a police report as that’s a pretty serious offense. Not that this excuses the behavior of some of Draya’s costars or anything.
As for Draya, she maintains she loves her son very much. While the episode aired on Monday night, she tweeted: “Of course im going to cry. I’m a mother. This involves my child. I will cut, steal, kill for him.” Below are some photos of Draya with her son Kniko -
TELL US – THOUGHTS ON DRAYA’S INTERVIEW AND THE POLICE REPORT BEING REAL? DOES THIS CHANGE YOUR VIEW OF HER OR THE CONFRONTATION BY THE LADIES?
Dare I say these women are rivaling their Miami counterparts? Last night’s Basketball Wives: L.A. was a flurry of pot stirring and dirt digging with a heaping helping of bullying. Geez…what are these women hoping to teach their children?
The fight between Laura and Draya isn’t nearly as dramatic as the previews promised, although both women end up on the mat. After the cage match, Draya feels a weird vibe, as everyone is being light and friendly when clearly Laura was on a vendetta against her. Not wanting to tempt fate, a chipper Draya calls it a day. The other ladies are amazed at how unfazed she seems, not to mention she didn’t back down at all during the match. Laura just looks at what happened as another day, another mixed martial arts cage fight. She says that if she had wanted Draya to feel her “raft,” Draya totally would have been blown away by her “raft.” Her “raft” is frightening. What is frightening is that she is confusing an inflatable water apparatus with “wrath.” Good gracious.

You may recall that last week, Kimsha took to the Facebook machine to let all of cyberspace know that Shaunie was behind Kimsha’s lack of face-time on VH1′s reality show. She also not so kindly insinuated that Shaunie spent a good amount of her time kissing up to her fellow cast mate Evelyn Lozada. Not surprisingly, both Shaunie and Evelyn are not going to turn the other cheek.
Evelyn, always the calm one, has come to the defense of her BFF Shaunie, revealing the true reason for Kimsha’s absence on Basketball Wives: L.A. Apparently, she’s not shown because she’s a (say it with me!) non-mutha f**kin’ factor. Of course she is! Evelyn made the following tweets -
“**CLEARING THINGS UP** @ShaunieONeal does not have anything 2 do with the LA show!If your scenes were edited then that means u were a NMFF!
I think it’s ridiculous 2 place blame on someone if your scenes didn’t make the cut! Everything we say doesn’t! Some more than others. Everything u say wont air.
FYI – I’m not kissing anyone’s ass or vice versa! I been friends with Shaunie for 6 years now, way before BBall Wives existed! #Loyal I’m not taking shots either, but some of the shit I read is just plain stupid! I’m being a realest & keeping it 100! Blame your self! #Boom”
That Evelyn is quite the wordsmith.
Shaunie flat out denies any feud between the ladies. In a statement to VH1, she says, “We’ve never met, so there is no relationship. I’ve met Ron [Artest] before a couple times, but never Kimsha, ever. I can’t say anything about her because I don’t know her. I don’t know how you fight someone that you’ve never met nor talked to. We’ve never been in the same place at the same time that I know of. And I would never ever fight somebody, I guess you’d have to meet them first to do that, and that’s never happened. So, I really don’t know where all that came from.”
Even Kimsha’s hubby Ron Artest Metta World Peace is weighing in, saying there can’t be a feud as Kimsha never made the initial attacks on Facebook. He reveals, “Kimsha Artest on Facebook is fake. I will not post her real fb. But that one is fake!!” Metta says, “Don’t believe any negative comments you here about Kimsha Artest. She is happy to be working with viacom and vh1…She has no drama with Shaunie or anyone.” He concludes, “Kimsha Artest does not like drama so that’s why y’all have not seen her on the show. She doesn’t want to be seen representing females falsely.”
Hmmm…legitimate case of stolen identity or major damage control? I’m sure it isn’t all that difficult to create a fake Facebook page, but I also don’t put it past any of these ladies to create major drama and then start back pedaling as fast as humanly possible. A new episode of Basketball Wives: L.A. airs tonight at 8PM ET on VH1.
DO YOU THINK SOMEONE CREATED THE FAKE PAGE TO STIR THE POT, OR WAS THAT THE REAL KIMSHA ARTEST? WHY DO YOU THINK KIMSHA HAS BEEN ABSENT FROM THE SHOW LATELY?
Many fans of Basketball Wives LA have wondered what happened to Kimsha Artest on the show after she was originally billed as one of the main cast members, and apparently, so has Kimsha!
Kimsha appeared on the season premiere of the hit VH1 show and has been MIA from the series since. After getting a lot of questions from fans wondering what happened to her on the show, Kimsha finally broke her silence in a big way, blaming messy executive producer Shaunie O’Neal for axing her.
First Kimsha posted the following on her facebook page last week attempting to take the high road: “FYI: I’m no longer main cast on BBW LA.” She lated added, “I’m getting asked a lot of questions. I ain’t got time for the bullshit. It is what the fuck it is. Ya’ll need to take it to Ms Shaunie. I will keep my mouth zipped right now.”
Fast forward to yesterday and Kimsha let loose as she completely slammed Shaunie. Kimsha wrote -
“I see they cut me off the show and left buckle ass bitches. shaunie oneal can kiss my ass. she kisses ass to that evelyn bitch and gets the bitch who fucked her husband and cut her a cheque but cant handle a real woman. FOH!”
Ai ya ya! Laura Govan is not going to be happy about that post!
So far, Shaunie has yet to respond. Must say Kimsha was a great character on the show. A bit puzzled as to why they axed her as well. As for Tanya Williams, who has also been MIA from the show, she has publicly stated she likely got the axe because she wouldn’t bring the drama.
In other news, Draya Michelle continues to make headlines for all the wrong reasons! The former stripper, who made headlines earlier this year after losing custody of her son, is now in the news again — this time for a leaked nude photo.
The MTO blog posted a picture of Draya which shows her sunbathing topless with some of her friends. Feel free to click here to see that NSFW photo.
TELL US – THOUGHTS ON KIMSHA’S COMMENTS ABOUT SHAUNIE? DO YOU MISS HER ON THE SHOW?
On last night’s Basketball Wives: L.A., Imani and Laura need action, Malaysia designs baby bling, and the sisters Govan can’t wait for Draya to get in the ring…literally.
After the wedding, everyone heads to the clerb to celebrate with the happy couple. Gloria remarks that she thinks Jackie and the girls are taking it hard that Draya was a no-show. Um, why? They all seem to pretty much dislike her, but whatevs. They can’t focus on that when Imani starts crying to Jackie about how lonely she feels and how she’s given up on love. Crying to the bride after her wedding. Sounds like someone is trying to steal some wedding thunder, and now Imani is the center of attention. No one seems to mind, though, and the ladies group-hug it out.

It seems whenever there is a mention of the ladies of Basketball Wives: L.A., it involves drama. And why wouldn’t it? Since the show started, there have been catfights, rumors of infidelity, accusations of child endangerment…and we’re not even half way through the season!
Gloria Govan is a sharp-tongued character who has been at the center of the craziness since her time on Basketball Wives: Miami. She is engaged to L.A. Laker Matt Barnes, the only “husband” still playing in the NBA. The couple, who have two-year-old twin boys, have battled their fair share of rumors in the past. In a recent interview with Essence.com, the pair hoped to shed some light on their normal lives while silencing the haters.
Matt has his own take on the show. He says, “We originally thought the show was going to portray women stepping out of our shadow and raising kids and their day-to-day activities, but they’re showing red carpets, fights, drinks in the face, and girls sleeping around. I’m the sole representative of the NBA as far as the show is concerned, so everyone’s kind of looking at you crazy. I do it in support of her, but if it were just for me, I wouldn’t do it.”
Of Gloria, Matt reveals, “She can hit the red carpet, but then she’s at home with two pigtails taking care of the boys and making dinner and cleaning up — really [I want viewers to know] just how real her life is. She really is a mom just like everyone else out there. She’s also a high school basketball coach and she does a lot of regular things you don’t see.”
Gloria also sings Matt’s praises, stating, “We’re super sappy. We’re into the rose petals and candles and balloons. He leaves me notes everywhere — like in my car, my purse, and places I would never think to look in, like my sunglasses case — and then I just find them throughout the day. They’re really brilliant notes.” She continues, “He’s always encouraging and supportive. He’s so cute.”
The couple recently postponed their wedding. Gloria admits, “I’m just, like, still not there yet. The last thing I want to do is put him in a headlock and drag him down the aisle. If the wheel’s not broke… why fix it?” She explains, “We’re comfortable with where we are in our relationship. We’re really solid and we’re happy. That’s why we canceled our wedding in the first place, because we realized it wasn’t for us — it was for everyone else. It was for friends, family, viewers, everyone. That was probably the best thing we could have done.”
As for backlash from viewers, Gloria reveals that sometimes she lets the negativity get to her. She says, “People on Twitter can be very hateful. People will tweet me something so cruel at like 8 o’clock in the morning. I try not to read it at all. I feel bad because there are some really cool fans and stuff, but you know, by the time I get to reading them I’m already upset and have a bad attitude.” However, Gloria doesn’t have much time to worry about the drama, as she reveals she’s hoping for a spot on next season’s Dancing with the Stars. The show doesn’t want Bravo housewives, do you think it will cast the VH1 variety?
Meanwhile, Gloria’s cast mate is going through a very devastating ordeal. We all watched last week as a heartbroken Jackie Christie had to Skype in her ailing mother to her sixteenth wedding to husband Doug.
Jackie and her sister were coping with the doctor’s news that their mother’s cancer had spread and she wasn’t responding to treatment. Sadly, Jackie’s mother passed away last week. She revealed the tragic news in an interview, saying she was glad her mother was able to see her marry Doug a sixteenth time before her passing. Jackie also explained that she and her daughter, Takari, who has publicly bashed her mother’s parenting skills, are resolving their issues. I’m glad they are working on their relationship, especially in light of their recent family tragedy. My thoughts go out to the Christie family.
A new episode of Basketball Wives: L.A. premieres tonight at 8ET on VH1.
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF GLORIA AND MATT’S INTERVIEW? WOULD YOU WATCH GLORIA ON DWTS?
