You know you've made it big in the reality television world when we're still talking about you long after you got the boot from your Bravo gig…or in one lady's case when her whole city's series got the ax.
There seems to be nothing Bravo loves more than a pre-season casting rumor. It sets the drama in motion before cameras even start rolling. Currently in the spotlight is Real Housewives of New York!
While last season was shaky, ratings increased each week and fans started to really relate (or hate) the new additions. And despite the success, apparently Bravo execs didn't feel the reaction was good enough and they want more than luke-warm viewing.
“It's very simple: Shows like 'Housewives' are about ratings,” a network executive reveals to The Huffington Post. RHONY is "not a high-class show like 'Mad Men' that wins awards and appeals to top-notch advertisers. That’s why such a dramatic ratings drop is so devastating.”
LuAnn stepped out last night for The Broadway Dreams Foundation's "Champagne & Caroling" Gala. When the new Housewives' BFF Tom Murro bumped into her, he tried to get her to dish a little on her co-stars. But the divine Miss Lu wasn't having any of it. Ever the epitome of class and poise, she just shared a sly little comment that we're definitely reading into.
The convo went a little like this:
Tom: "Hey Luann – So tell me, be honest, who are you really friends with off camera?"
LuAnn: ''I have a working relationship with all of the ladies".
Tom: "So are you friends with Ramona, do you like her? "
LuAnn: "Like I said, 'I have a working relationship with all of the ladies''
Tom says that LuLu did admit to liking Aviva Drescher and her hubby Reid. You have to hand it to the Countess for not being as loose-lipped as SOME Housewives, right?
TELL US – DO YOU THINK ANY OF THE HOUSEWIVES ARE REALLY FRIENDS OFF-SCREEN?!
Give me a break! I am so over fake drama in the housewives franchises! If what I'm writing is true, Pinot Singer has truly lost what tiny bit of respect I had for her. On the flip side, I think that Aviva Drescher has proven herself to be slightly cray, so she could totally be making up the secret truce that she apparently has with Ramona.
Aviva has been awfully chatty lately about her friendship with Ramona when the Bravo cameras aren't rolling for Real Housewives of New York. If you recall, the women were at an impasse at the reunion, with Ramona unable to forgive and forget being called a white trash alcoholic who enabled Sonja Morgan's bad behavior. However, if you believe what Aviva's been saying, the ladies are practically a-okay behind the scenes.
She's brash and loud and skinny and quite the alcohol mogul. Whether you're her biggest fan or she's the reality star you love to hate, everyone seems to have an opinion on Bethenny Frankel.
The former Real Housewives of New York star has made a name for herself with spin-offs, cocktails, and a daytime talk show. She has a cult like following and an equally large number of people who can't stand to hear her voice. However, you can't deny that her sharp wit and acidic tongue can be downright hilarious.
First up, Page Six dishes that fashion-personality Jené Luciani could be headed to the cast next year! A source reveals that the underwear guru and author of "The Bra Book" completed a screen test for the series and has had cameras following her for two days. Too bad bra maven Jene wasn't around when Alex McCord was a member of the cast!
“They went to a meeting for her lingerie-inspired handbag line, a pole-dancing fitness class, and met her 3-year-old daughter at her country home,” the source reveals. “They also took a tour of her vintage clothing collection.”
Jill'sWatch What Happens Live segment exposed a woman who has still not recovered from incidents from over four years ago – including how she felt she was misrepresented on RHONY. Apparently Jill wasn't about to let that happen again and someone from her entourage who was in the audience during the pre-recorded WWHL taping secretly filmed the entire interview. And Jill admits it!
Hard work and tireless self-promoting apparently pays off. Real Housewives of New York's resident intellectual, Carole Radziwill has just inked a six-figure deal to publish her first novel, The Widow's Guide To Sex & Dating.
According to the NY Post, following a serious bidding war, Carole procured a two book deal with Henry Holt & Co worth $700,000! The second book will be a collection of essays tentatively titled, A Girl's Guide To Life. Clearly Carole is a woman who likes a theme!
Carole confirmed she had indeed signed a deal with a publisher but wouldn't elaborate on which one. Carole's first book, a memoir, chronicled the death and aftermath of her late husband Anthony Radziwill. Carole's novel has also been optioned for a sitcom.
