It’s the end of an era at Jeff Lewis Design – and for Flipping Out. Last night, we saw Zoila Chavez make the life altering decision to leave Jeff’s employment – forever – and despite her surly ways, I have to admit I shed a wee tear seeing the entire mess play out in living color. Her departure wasn’t good, but it was, in the end, inevitable.
After Gema, Jeff and Gage Edward’s eighth nanny, was fired last week, the household is reeling from a text the ex-nanny sent. She accused Zoila of working against Gage and sabotaging her at every turn regarding how she cared for Monroe. When Jeff questions Zoila about the specifics of Gema’s accusations, though, Zoila rails against the investigation. Since Jeff is too uncomfortable to actually face Zoila’s shadiness head on, he diffuses the situation by holding an impromptu mock trial. Megan Weaver, Jenni Pulos, Gage, and Jeff all laugh while they read the guilty verdicts one after another. Even the housekeeper, Laura, piles on. Although she initially laughs the game off, Zoila’s mirth quickly turns to anger.
It feels like Shannon Beador will never live down the comments she made attributing her weight gain to Vicki Gunvalson. It has been addressed during every single interview she’s done this season and last night’s Watch What Happens Live episode was no exception.
Thankfully for Shannon, she had her girl Jenni Pulos sitting right next to her just in case she needed some support…. and to answer some tough questions herself about the drama between Jeff Lewis and Zoila Chavez.
It seems like every cast member on Shahs of Sunset is done with Asa Soltan Rahmati and her vagueness. No one expects someone to share every single bit of her life just because she’s on a reality TV show, but what do we know about Asa? She has been on this show the whole time and all she has done is sell caftans and try to convince us that diamond water is a real thing. No wonder Mercedes “MJ” Javid is lashing out.
The rest of this cast really bares it all. Sure, it takes a lot of poking and prodding for some of them to actual admit the truth – cough, cough Shervin Roohparvar and Mike Shouhed – but they all end up putting themselves out there for the sake of being real for the show… except for Asa. As expected, MJ did not hold back when she was asked about Asa during her latest Watch What Happens Live appearance and Andy Cohen and Jeff Lewis were living for it.
Jeff Lewis may have dodged a bullet when he passed on Versailles, but business isn’t his problem. Nannies are. Remember the lovely and caring Gema, who Jeff was madly in love with just a moment ago? Yeah, well – now she sucks, apparently! This week’s Flipping Out finds Gage Edward and Jeff ready to fire Gema over a series of infractions, including messing with their nanny cam – which is definitely not okay with these super-addicted nanny cam dads. Nope. Nope. And Nope.
We begin at New Hollywood, where Jeff is berating Jenni Pulos for coming to work with a cold. It’s not a cold, says Jenni – it’s pregnancy congestion! But Jeff barely has the attention span to keep ragging on her because now he’s mad at Gema, who hasn’t been responding to baby Monroe in a timely fashion. Also, Gema feels like she’s going crazy working in this controlling environment, where Gage literally snaps his fingers at her if she moves too slowly, and where Monroe is still screaming her poor little head off (less so, but still…it’s maddening). On a scale of easiest to toughest babies from 1-10, Gema ranks Monroe at a solid ELEVEN. Zoila Chavez is even feeling rattled by Gema’s frustration, thinking the nanny might quit any day. And she’s ready to help make that happen.
Last night on Flipping Out, Jeff Lewis explains why hiring seven nannies does not make him insane, then flies down to Orlando to tour the palace of an actual insane person, Jackie Siegel. The Queen of Versailles hopes Jeff will design her 90,000 square foot monstrosity home that she and her hubby have been attempting to build for over a decade, but Jeff’s not so sure. Neither is David Siegel, who is not a big fan of Jeff’s humor – nor of his barrage of insults about the Siegal’s disgusting taste. (I’d like to pause here to personally invite Jeff to my home to insult literally everything I own. Because it would be 100% worth it to get a Jeff Lewis design out of the deal. By all means, insult away!!!)
But David Siegel’s ego is no small hurdle to overcome, and Jeff knows this. He and Gage Edward do not know a whole lot about babies, though, as has become starkly apparent these past weeks. At least baby Monroe has lived through the move to New Hollywood, so there’s that. She has not had a decent nanny stay for more than a hot minute, however. And Jeff has all kindsa excuses about why. Or maybe just one…
It’s time for Jeff Lewis and Gage Edward to move into their new home. So that means it’s also time to start epic fights with new neighbors in the driveway! On camera. Because this is Flipping Out, after all, and we would expect nothing less from our favorite OCD designer. Plus, baby Monroe’s screams are about to drive this faceless neighbor to the brink of sanity, so why not start things out with a bang?
After last week’s sh*tshow, Jeff and Gage are in a mildly more amicable place. Translation: Jeff has not called the lawyers to divide assets yet. We begin at Valley Vista, where dawn is breaking on the new fathers rocking their baby. Zoila Chavez is trying to help out, but she’s at a loss. Jeff is at least excited about moving back to Hollywood soon, where he thinks he’ll get some of his old life back. Earth to Jeff: You had a baby. You will NEVER get your “old life back,” dude. Embrace the cray-cray.
Jeff Lewis and Gage Edward are new parents, thus they are a little insane at the moment. And this week’s Flipping Out highlights how each father’s insanity manifests differently. For Gage, it’s all about micro-managing the baby, and for Jeff, it’s more about micro-managing his business – and his imaginary divorce from Gage. Yikes. Good times at Valley Vista!
Jeff doesn’t plan on being at Valley Vista much longer though, because he’s New Hollywood bound, come hell or high water damage. Since no one apparently predicted a baby would be uncomfortable living in a construction zone, everyone is scrambling to get the hell out of VV before little Monroe levels the place with her screams. But Jeff doesn’t see himself as the center of all of this chaos – no, no. He’s the glue that holds this family together! At least that’s what his pediatrician told him. Gage now wants to murder this pediatrician.
Jeff Lewis and Gage Edward prepared for a baby as much as they could have…then she was born. Let the madness begin! This week, Flipping Out follows Jeff and Gage as they travel back to Valley Vista with their newborn daughter, Monroe, wading through the first hours, days, and months knee-deep in diapers and midnight feedings. Good thing Gage didn’t piss that nanny off too badly last time she visited! He needs her now like Jeff needs his breath spray. And by that, I mean, desperately.
Before they leave Chico, their surrogate, Alexandra, must say goodbye to the baby she carried in her womb for nine months. Even though Monroe is not biologically hers (Jeff and Gage had a separate egg donor), it’s still an emotional process for Alexandra to let go. Naturally. “My heart hurts looking at her, it’s so full,” she says while rocking her. Jeff and Gage wanted Alexandra to hold Monroe before she left, which they hope provides closure, but aren’t sure whether it just made everyone more sad. Jeff also hopes to get more sleep in the coming days because they literally got zero the night she was born. From one parent to another, Jeff, let me say: BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Bless your heart.
