It seems like Joe Giudice should just resign himself to spending a looooong, looooong time behind bars! Besides awaiting sentencing for his federal fraud case, Joe still has not settled his case in New Jersey for identity fraud! Aaaaahhh…. the felonious Fraudices.
NorthJersey.com reports that Joe spent his day in his home away from home on Monday – a NJ courtroom – for a "status hearing" as he and lawyers attempted to iron out a last-minute plea bargain. Joe has a pre-trial date set for July 14.
I've lost track of how many times this case has been rescheduled but perhaps prosecutors are waiting to learn the results of the Real Housewives of New Jersey star's federal fraud case before going forward with another trial.
Yesterday Joe was spotted in court alone so attorneys could determine whether or not his identity fraud trial should take place before or after his federal trial for fraud. Decisions, decisions! Noticeably absent (as she always is) was Teresa!
“They are having problems. It is almost impossible for a marriage to survive all this stress,” a friend confides to Naughty But Nice Rob. “We are praying for them, but it does not look good."
Who cares about illegally obtaining a driver's license when you're facing 39 counts of fraud stemming from declaring bankruptcy? It seems as if Real Housewives of New Jersey'sJoe Giudice is never going to stand trial for allegedly using his brother's identification to get a driver's license when Juicy's was suspended.
While his trial was supposed to be this coming week, has been delayed yet again. Now Joe will have to face the music in mid-2014 after he stands trial for the federal fraud charges with wife Teresa.
We know y'all have been dying to discuss the latest and greatest Teresa Giudice exploit, so here it is. Eat your hearts out.
Teresa, whose defense strategy is 'Juicy did it! Y'all know I'm illiterate so I just signed where he told me to sign!', is attempting to walk away from her 39-count federal fraud indictment without doing any jail. You know, stranger things have happened… maybe.
Earlier this week the Giudices entered Not Guilty pleas at their arraignment and the Real Housewives of New Jersey stars had a trial date set. However, according to sources before going before the judge, Teresa and Joe's defense teams attempted to reach a plea agreement with prosecutors and were rejected!
“Teresa wanted a plea deal that keeps her out of jail so she offered to do anything else BUT jail time and have Joe serve all of the time in jail. The prosecutor dismissed the deal outright," a source tells RadarOnline.
Teresa Giudice is in a hailstorm of trouble. If she thought strippergate was something to get worked up over, she hasn't seen anything like going to trial against the federal government. No amount of body glitter can save a girl now! #OrangeIsTheNewLeopard.
While I fully intend Kim D, Teresa's eternally supportive BIFFL, to make her some Posche-appropriate prison garb and stage a Big House fashion show, Teresa is still hedging bets that she'll avoid jail time.
Right now Teresa and Joe Giudice are developing a legal strategy that seems to focus on Juicy serving jail time while the Real Housewives of New Jersey star plays the innocent, doting wife who was a victim of his schemes.
So in case you haven't heard, Joe Giudice was charged with like 3 zillion money fraud related indictments. Which is about how much money he also owes because of bankruptcy debts related to falsifying income. And when he's done there he owes the IRS big too. Long story short, homeboy is in biiig trouble!
Among the revelations that emerged about the Real Housewives of New Jersey star during the court proceedings was that, despite being married to Teresa Giudice for like 15 years, Joe never bothered to become a U.S. citizen. Which means he's still an Italian citizen, since he was born there. And since he's not a U.S. citizen, as a felon or a convicted offender he could be deported!
We've been wondering how likely it was that ol' Juicy could be shipped off to Italy and lucky us, we got the opportunity to speak to an immigration attorney who gave us some insight into how cases such as these generally work.
Disclaimer: This attorney does not represent Teresa or Joe and is in no way connected personally or professionally to their case or to Reality Tea. This attorney just so happens to be a RHONJ fan like the rest of us!
Teresa Giudice is getting a lot of attention as of late for her alleged criminal activity.
Earlier we wrote that Teresa and Joe Giudice had hired separate defense attorneys to combat their fraud indictment. We speculated that it seemed uncommon to have separate attorneys as a married couple fighting the same charges and I commented that I believed Teresa and Joe were planning to have him take the heat so she could try to avoid a more serious punishment like jail time. Remember, Teresa has no priors. Joe, well – you know…
In response to our story a criminal defense attorney (who does not represent Teresa or Joe) reached out to us to clear up some aspects of how the legal process works. The attorney we spoke to explained that it's "very common in criminal proceedings" to hire separate attorneys. Apparently many judges will not allow both parties to share legal representation because "as individuals, they have separate interests and those interests need to be protected."
