Calling any reality television casting agents and the rulers of all messy canned drama (Mona? Andy Cohen?)–I promise if I’m ever paid copious (or not so copious) amounts of money on a reality show, I won’t blow said fortune on tanning beds (I’m looking at you, Situation!) or Ed Hardy. I’ll pay down my student loans and maybe buy a car that isn’t over a decade old. Granted, I’d be boring as all get out to watch, but I do have some entertaining friends. I certainly wouldn’t run through whatever money the reality gods wanted to pay me only to continue digging a deeper financial hole for myself. Pinky swear!
I guess what I’m trying to say is that I’d strive to be the exact opposite of Jon Gosselin. After the success of Jon & Kate Plus 8 followed by a nasty divorce from Kate, the two competed for fame whoredom, and blew through their money in the meantime. While Kate seems back on track with Celebrity Apprentice and Kate Plus 8 Jon just can’t get his bank account on point.
If you cannot get enough of Kate Gosselin‘s monotone and completely devoid of emotion voice narrating the latest happenings in her life, then you are in luck because Kate Plus 8 returns soon. Why, TLC?! WHY?!?
Like always, the show focuses on Kate and her eight kids, Mady, Cara, Leah, Alexis, Aaden, Hannah, Collin, and Joel, on fun trips and wacky adventures. Only … this is Kate we’re talking about … so erase the fun and the wacky. On the trailer, Kate and the kids travel to Maine, celebrate the twins 14th birthday, smash pumpkins for Halloween, and kick off a home renovation. Also, the best part, Mady and Cara imitate Kate in all her uptight glory. See the Kate Plus 8 trailer below. The new episodes kick off January 13 on TLC.
Jon Gosselin wins our Thirsty Thursday award this week. Jon, who is broke as a joke, told Kate Gosselin, whose reality TV career is on the upswing, that he’d be willing to go on Couples Therapy with her. What a kind soul. I’m sure he has only her best interests at heart.
“I would consider appearing on Couples Therapy with Kate,” said Jon. “We are divorced, but why can’t we co-parent? I was thinking Kate and I could do a televised sit-down with a doctor and work out our differences, because our kids are suffering. She’s still so angry at me.”
Well, we have not seen the last of Kate Gosselin and her eight kids just yet. After the success of the Kate Plus 8 summer special that aired in June, yesterday TLC announced they filming again and the new special will air this December.
The news comes more than three years after the cancellation of Kate Plus 8, which had morphed from Jon & Kate Plus 8 after Jon Gosselin left the show in 2009. At the time, Kate was very public about her inability to care for her kids without her reality show income. Well with these specials, perhaps she can worry no more.
Oh!Kate Gosselin and her bodyguard Steve Neild have gone their separate ways! Awww. I guess all good tacky and unnecessary things really do come to an end. TLC hired Steve in 2008 to protect the Gosselin kids while filming Jon & Kate Plus 8. But Kate, in all her selfish and delusional glory, has dominated Steve’s time and attention for the past six years.
Rumors surrounding the nature of Kate and Steve‘s relationship have swirled for years… as far back as 2009 when Kate’s marriage to Jon Gosselin fell apart. Most recently, Kate and Steve were caught sharing a hotel room in New York City while Kate filmed Celebrity Apprentice. Um, did Kate need Steve to protect her from scary room service? Bed bugs?
In the latest issue of In Touch Weekly, Jon regales us with tales of what a terrible mother Kate Gosselin is and now wants to fight her for custody of their sextuplets. This all comes weeks after Kate dropped a lawsuit against Jon claiming he stole information from her that was later used in a purported tell-all expose that accused her of being obsessed with fame and abusing her eight kids.
"They live in fear of Kate,” Jon claims of the nine-year-old sextuplets. “Every time I see them, they tell me they want to live with me.” In a recent Today Show interview, Jon and Kate's twins Mady and Kara refused to answer questions and displayed some serious animosity towards their mom. “It was horrible to watch,” recounts Jon.
Is Kate Gosselin extending an olive branch? Perhaps she's sick of being on the fringe in the tabloids? Nah, that can't be it. Could it be that all the money she spends on styling, manicures, and tanning don't allow for a big legal battle against her ex-husband Jon and author Robert Hoffman.
As you recall, Kate waged a multi-million dollar lawsuit against Robert who authored Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled the World as well as the father of her eight children after the self-published book painted the former Jon & Kate Plus 8 reality star in a not so pretty light. Yeah, it was just the book that did that…
Kate Gosselin appeared on Bethenny Frankel's talk show today. Bethenny asked Kate point blank how she spent her Jon & Kate Plus 8 earnings. Kate turned the conversation around – poor little divorced me – and said a few things about co-parenting that Bethenny really needs to apply to her own life.
First – the money! Where did it all go? Bethenny pointed out that Kate made a ton of money during Jon & Kate Plus 8's wildly successful run. Typical Kate hemmed and hawed a bit but ultimately agreed and said it was a blessing.
Bethenny continued, "You said publicly you kind of need to support your kids. You need money to support your kids. So I think people want to know where the money went, where the money is."
Kate answered, "The majority of what we made, I personally took and put into a college fund for the kids because they will go to college. So I use coupons and we don't wear top brands. Those things, to me, really aren't overly important, but college, school, and the house where they live is important.
