Following slams by Nene Leakes, not once but twice, Star Jones is finally responding to her Celebrity Apprentice costar.
If you recall, Nene recently went on the Wendy Williams Show and stated, “I’m not feeling Star Jones. I gave her a chance when she got there, but Star is a trip. She’s very special. I wouldn’t spit on Star if she was on fire.” Star is now telling her side to Black Voices and below is what she had to say-
“This actually saddens me. Black women trashing other black women all for the sake of personal aggrandizement. When the cast was first announced, I was both excited and concerned. Excited that this was going to be the most diverse cast in prime-time reality programming and concerned because the media immediately started the drumroll of “can this many black women get along?” The four of us actually chatted about the unique opportunity we had to influence the perception of black women and the way we interact. We each brought something different to the show, so I had hoped we could avoid falling into the typical “snake charmer in your face loud bombastic black woman” stereotypical box that was expected. Some of us were more successful at our quest than others.”
In other news, the YBF blog is reporting that Nene and her Real Housewives of Atlanta costar Phaedra Parks went at it during a local radio interview on Wednesday.
The smackdown occurred on the “Rickey Smiley Morning Show” when Nene called in to talk about Star and Phaedra. Following Nene’s trash talking, Phaedra then called in to the show and a back-and-forth ensued. Below are some of the “highlights” –
Nene On Phaedra being an Equestrian:
“You are sitting on the same show I’m sitting on so your attorney work must not be working out for you. And as far as her being an equestrian, I don’t know that for sure. But she was raised in the projects of Athens and they didn’t ride horses. They barely drove cars through there… If I wanted to ride a horse I could have rode one. I decided to drive a car.”
Nene on Phaedra Being a Lawyer:
“Now she can be a class act act or whatever you want to call it….And I don’t care if she went to school for 20 years, you end up on the same show I am on. And I do more than you do and make more money than you so what’s next?”
Phaedra On Growing Up in Athens and NeNe’s Attitude:
“I don’t have any issues with NeNe. I did not grow up in the ghetto cause there are no ghettos is Athens (Georgia). You have forgotten a lot about high school. You have forgotten a lot about your hometown. And from what I understand, you say you are from New York but you’ve been in Athens since you were three years old. So it’s not amazing to me that you would forget most things.”
The ladies reportedly went back and forth before one of the female members of the radio show cut off the conversation.
