BBW’s Royce Reed Responds After Twitter War with Dezmon Briscoe’s Ex; Jen Williams Presses Charges Against Evelyn Lozada’s Assistant; Plus Shaunie Talks Drama

Must everything about Basketball Wives be messy?  And must twitter usually be the cause?  After introducing her love, Dezmon Briscoe, on Monday night’s episode, all hell broke loose in Twitterverse for Royce Reed.  After Dezmon’s baby mama, Christina Nero, tweeted, “I swear I almost threw up watching bbw fake a$s relationship” and revealed that Dezmon had been sending her “freaky texts,” Royce was adamant she was a liar.  What a difference a few days make!

In the midst of the drama, Dezmon tweeted, “baby mama wanna be messy so I’ll clean it up. I sent the messages she posted …To be on her good side because she has my son.”  Fair enough, right?  He later apologized to his beloved in the intimate and sincere way possible…again via Twitter.  “I could of handled the situation better,” he tweets. “I’m still wrong and I wanna apologize to @Roycelr because she don’t deserve that. Love you.”  Awww…

While Royce is no doubt humiliated, she tweeted, “I was lied 2 and stood by it.  Gonna take a lot more than THAT 4 forgiveness…My heart is broken….y the hell send it just 2 appease sum1”  She makes a very valid point, no?

Even in her VH1 blog, Royce is truly mad…but is it directed at the correct person?  She has posted pictures of her and Dezmon in happier times and posts an open letter to his baby mama.  Yikes!   She writes:

“At the end of the day” (Jen voice) he will not be with her. So the rant she went on and my responses change nothing for her life. Not only do I look like a fool in love, but she looks like a bitter, jealous and angry “Baby Momma.” That’s worse. Fact is, they were never an item. They were never a couple. But for just under a year, she has been angry that he has been with me…I’m sure she wonders why she was never “the one” to marry but just “the one” to do before he met me.

Surely she has some equally harsh words for the dude who actually started this, right?  Well, maybe “harsh” isn’t the right word.  I realize that relationships are complicated, and no one really knows the full story, but Royce has an admitted history of blurred vision when it comes to men.  Is history repeating itself?  She continues:

Do I think Dezmon loves me? Yes! Do I think what he did was wrong? Absolutely. Are we done…forever? Honestly, I don’t know. Readers can say I’m dumb if I go back, but with relationships come mistakes. I was lied to and lesson learned…I entertained it on Twitter. I let the drama get to me despite being told to ignore it. That was my immaturity in this experience coming out. I admit that. Yes, I’m embarrassed, humiliated and broken. But I’m strong. Regardless of what happens I will be okay. Do I love him? Yes. Is that enough to stay? At this point, no.

Royce also touches on Dezmon’s attempts to gain forgiveness:

It’s so sad that we now live in a world where love is frowned upon and marriage is no longer taken as a life long vow. We live in a world where it’s funny to see someone hurt and heartbroken. I’m a hopeless romantic and I’d rather be a fool that’s happily in love than a depressed soul that has no heart. Will Dezmon and I work things out? I don’t know. Up until 4 AM I’ve heard tears, apologies, and I’ve seen humility. Maybe this is a mistake that he needed to learn from. Maybe this is a mistake that caused him to really realize what he had. Yes, he sent them but no, it didn’t happen.

Hmmm…I just don’t know.  I think Royce needs to cut her losses with this one.  She doesn’t need the added drama that he (and his past) are bringing to her life.  And speaking of drama, Jen Williams has pressed charges against Evelyn Lozada’s assistant Nia Crooks for the slap heard round the racetrack.  Honestly, there are so many brawls on this show, they all run together for me!

TMZ is reporting that Nia was charged on April 10th after a criminal complaint was filed by Jen.  Nia could serve up to a year in jail if she is convicted.  Her attorney is not concerned.  Marc David Seitles told the site, “We will vigorously defend Nia against these charges. The women on the show executed contracts expressly accepting the risk that a physical altercation could occur.  Given that Jennifer herself has previously instigated fights on the show, to cry foul now is absurd and a desperate attempt for publicity and money. We will fight until Nia is vindicated.”

Luckily, there is one woman on the show who always manages to steer clear of the drama, BBW’s producer Shaunie O’Neal.  She may not engage in the bad behavior, but she is certainly manufacturing the vessel for all of it!  The Queen of Good Manners and Morality released a statement to Vibe where she addresses the women’s—her FRIENDS(!!!)—behavior.  It reads:

I’m extremely happy that Basketball Wives continues to have another successful fourth season. As the ratings have been through the roof since our season opener, fans continue to tune into the lives of Evelyn, Tami, Jennifer, Royce, Suzie  and myself. As there is always controversy and indifference projected on the show, because we are all individual personalities, I always hope that people will find that as much as you may agree or disagree with the opinions, the behavior, [and] even our different taste in shoes, you are taking a look inside the lives of four complete different women. I will never say I agree with some of the behavior between my girlfriends on the show, but if we were to edit certain things out the show would be scripted and not reality.

As a woman of color with kids, I am very aware of myself, but I also have to be aware that my choices cannot be the same for everyone on the show and I have to respect that. I hope the fans feel they see a balance and know we have always been real with our stories, even though it may not always be a positive portrayal of adult women but real women nonetheless. I look forward to developing other media platforms in the future and hope that fans will continue to support.

Gracious, that sounds so familiar!  Oh right!  She says the same flipping thing every season…

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF ALL THE ROYCE DRAMA?  WILL SHE GO BACK TO DEZMON?  COMMENTS ON SHAUNIE’S “STATEMENT”?
