Real Housewives of New York is officially back! Well, ok – tonight it is. The ladies of the Big Apple are returning with three new Housewives who already have major drama with some of the original cast.
Speaking out about opening up her life for reality TV is Sonja Morgan, whose zany antics and truly kooky ways have earned her a lot of fans and a lot of side-eye.
Speaking to LifestyleMirror.com, Sonja reveals that way back in season one of the now iconic reality show she was approached to join the cast, but chose not too. In those days Sonja was married to John Adams Morgan and letting television cameras into her business wasn’t for her.

“Reality TV was first starting out. I didn’t know if it was going to be a cross between Jerry Springer and Desperate Housewives,” she shares. Of course Sonja has since changed her mind and couldn’t be happier, although it’s definitely been an adjustment.
“You’re you, but you’re amplified by ten,” she admits of the editing process. “You have to perform for the camera. The viewers are watching to see everything and you can’t try to hide that. If you sign up for reality TV, you have to be yourself.”
“People want to see how real people live. It makes people feel like they’re not alone in the world. That we’re all going through the same things, no matter where we live, how much money we have, or which family we were born into.”

As you know tonight is the special hour and a half long season premiere of Real Housewives of New York. Titled “The New New York,” the new ladies go face-to-face with the originals as Sonja hosts a party to introduce the cast in full. Unfortunately things start to take a turn for the same old New York when Ramona shows up and starts causing drama with Heather Thompson over some past instances.
