Balmain must be desperate for a little publicity in the wake of the French fashion house’s rumored slipping sales, because they photographed Kim Kardashian and Kanye West for their “Army Of Lovers” campaign. Did they really think that would help?
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star is a big fan of the brand and wears it often – to disastrous results – but apparently someone at Balmain thinks the structured, extremely tailored pieces look amazing on Kim! That someone appears to be Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing, who is “good friends” with Kimye.

Kimye will star in the MENSwear Spring/Summer 2015 campaign – which means the true star of the ad is Kanye, not Kim. HA. – which was photographed by famed fashion photographer Mario Sorrenti.
“For this Menswear campaign, I wanted to capture a moment of love. Kim and Kanye are style icons and friends. It is an honour to have them in this Balmain campaign,” explains Roustenig. “Together, they represent love, beauty and diversity-they are the new modernity. This is more than a campaign, it expresses something beyond clothes – it is a celebration of love and friendship. This is a new statement for Balmain.” Did anyone else throw up in their mouths? Did Pimpmomma Kris write this?! Or it must be sarcasm – like super shade?
He tells Elle UK that the photos are “all about the kiss – their connection.” That’s all very interesting because Kris Jenner‘s own boyfriend recently revealed Kim and Kanye barely see each other and he is never around. The two are often spotted together in well-documented publicity photos of their travels, but there are never any candid or low-key moments. Even on so-called “Date Nights” Kim is posting and posing for selfies that do not include her husband.
Now I’m not sure why anyone considers Kim or Kanye fashionable, but apparently this is a thing now. Good for Kim – she’s taking Paris fashion by storm. Proof if there ever is one that the French love a hilarious American novelty to act as their entertainment.
And of course, Balmain is getting a ton of publicity out of this deal – Kim just shared a shot from the ads on instagram. I love how they photoshopped Kim down to a model size, cause that’s reality. <side eye> I mean seriously, is that Kim’s 2010 face on Kendall’s body?!
