Kelly Osbourne is taking her toys and going home. The Fashion Police co-host is leaving the show, E! announced this afternoon. Oh Nene Leakes, maybe there’s a spot for you after all!!
E! shared: “Kelly Osbourne is departing E!s Fashion Police to pursue other opportunities, and we would like to thank her for her many contributions to the series over the past five years, during which time the show became a hit with viewers. Fashion Police will return, as scheduled, on Friday, March 30th at 9:00 p.m. and no decisions have been made on her replacement.”
It’s easy to assume that Kelly is leaving after getting her feathers ruffled over a joke gone wrong by Giuliana Rancic about Zendaya Coleman’s dreadlocks. Kelly had threatened to quit if an apology was not made. Giuliana did apologize twice and Zendaya graciously accepted, but it must not have been enough. Kelly had raged on Twitter, “I WILL NOT BE DRAGED INTO THIS! The situation is being rectified like ADULTS by both parties. I hope you can leave it to them & do the same!” She gave them an ultimatum at the time, “I’m giving everyone involved 24 hours to make it right or the world will hear how I really feel. Contactually I’m not allowed to speak! I DID NOT MAKE THE WEED COMENT. I DO NOT CONDONE RACISM SO AS A RSULT OF THIS I AM SEREIOULSY QUESTIONONIG STAYING ON THE SHOW!”
E! and Kelly must’ve come to an agreement about her leaving the show since she was still under contract…
Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush had defended Giuliana this week, saying she wasn’t the one who wrote the joke so she shouldn’t be thrown under the bus alone. Ozzy Osbourne was irked over the comment and blasted him on Twitter.
Billy responded:
Billy also shared that the last half of Giuliana’s “joke” was a crack about a Grateful Dead concert, making the context clearer that it was supposed to be a hippie joke and not a racist comment.
I’m sure Sharon Osbourne will have a lot to say on The Talk on Monday….
