Little Women: LA Recap: Working Girls

On last night’s Little Women: LA, truces were struck and twerks were had. We pick up at Terra Jole and Tonya Banks’ beach bonfire, where Jasmine Sorge is defending herself for the thousandth time against the wrath of Tonya. Jasmine finally apologizes “if she ever disrespected” Tonya, telling her they don’t have to be best friends to be cordial in the future. Tonya accepts, then offers an apology in return. Which is shocking. They even hug it out in the end…then the earth cracks open and swallows everyone up, because this here is some serious fiction. Or is it? Hard to tell these days!

Christy McGinty is meeting up with the dubiously titled “internet personalities” Pauly and GloZell (Green), who have used Christy in past comedy videos on YouTube. They’re making a new one titled “Lip Gloss” and want not only Christy, but her gaggle of friends to be part of it. Terra and Tonya are Pauly’s top 2 choices, but Christy’s nervous about getting Terra on board since she basically dissed her music video last year. She’s going to try her best though.

Elena Gant is meeting Jasmine out for drinks, who’s feeling relieved after the truce she’s made with Tonya. Elena brings up Briana Manson’s relationship with Matt, which Jasmine is supportive of…for now. While Elena is still suspicious of Matt’s motives, Jasmine is willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Speaking of Bonnie and Clyde, Matt and Briana head out bed shopping since her current bed is “on the small side” for the two of them. They roll around inappropriately on a couple of options in the store, then discuss the bonfire. Matt is upset because he wasn’t acknowledged at the party. “I’m done with it,” snipes Matt, who’s beef is mainly with Terra giving him the cold shoulder. He points out (rightly so) that 5 out of the 7 dudes at the bonfire were average sized, but no one else is being called out for having a fetish or ulterior motives like he is. Okay, true dat. Matt professes his love for Briana, and says he’s going to call her friends out on their sh*t next time he sees them. “They have no idea what’s comin’,” he warns.

Briana, meanwhile, is getting busy making her dreams of singing come true. She wants to be the female Michael Buble. So, yeah. In good news, Briana is getting hooked up with a producer Kerry Gordy (son of Motown Records Berry Gordy) to get a demo made. Once she signs on the dotted line, next stop is the studio. Go, Briana!

In a long-overdue lunch (hopefully without screaming), Christy and Terra decide to act like friends again. They discuss IVF, which Christy and Todd have decided to pump the brakes on, opting for artificial insemination without genetic testing instead. Christy then segues into sheepishly asking for Terra’s help on Pauly and GloZell’s video. Terra doesn’t fully commit yet, confessing that she thinks half of the girls will be willing to do it, but Elena will most likely opt out again because she doesn’t like dancing. Speaking of not liking things, talk turns to Matt, who Terra asks Christy about. Christy says she can’t talk sh*t about Briana because she’s her friend, but the moment Matt steps out of line, she’s throwin’ down.

Briana is getting her hair did…by Jasmine! I didn’t know she was a hair stylist. Jasmine has a cool U-shaped step around the back of her salon chair so she can move easily around her clients when working, and she confesses that Briana is her first little person client. Aww. I love this. Because of Jasmine’s type of dwarfism, her own hair is very thin and brittle, so she became a hair stylist to look for ways to make her hair look thicker and healthier. (I’ve noticed it appears she’s wearing a wig or extensions most of the time.) Briana wants to look sharp for her big meeting with Kerry Gordy, so Jasmine hooks her up and agrees to come with Briana to the actual meeting to boot. Briana’s been hesitant to tell the other girls about her music career because they (cough, cough: Terra) always want to piss in her Cheerios. Jasmine thinks that’s a good call.

Across town, Brittney Guzman is dressed in her best “Twerk Twerk” sports bra fresh off the Miley Cyrus tour and ready to try out for a new dance troupe. She is the only little person present, but Brittney says she brings the moves “bigger than anyone here.” She rocks her audition and an agent offers her representation on the spot, providing she works on her choreography a bit more. Yay! Lots of good news this episode, which is a welcome break from the Tonya drama we’ve been subjected to all.season.long.

Christy is sitting down with Briana to ask if she’d be willing to dance in the Lip Gloss video Pauly and GloZell are putting on, but Briana is not having it. It’s Terra’s thing, not Briana’s. She’s friends with Pauly and GloZell, but is concerned she’s going to be exploited as a “silly” little person in the video. Plus, she’s not interested in seeing Terra at the moment. So, odds are not looking good on Briana’s involvement. Side note: Christy and Briana look beautiful in this scene. Shout out to Jasmine for Briana’s new ‘do, and shout out to the makeup artists who both did these ladies right this time!

In an effort to film scenes with Tonya that don’t involve fighting, Elena and Preston are hitting the go-kart track with her and Jaa. They race around a few times, followed by burgers and shakes. Elena and Tonya are glad their men get along so well. Elena tells Tonya that she thinks Jasmine is actually a decent person, but Tonya is still hesitant to rush into any sort of friendship with Jasmine. It’s baby steps for now, but at least it’s something better than hair-snatching and screaming.

It’s the day of Briana’s big meeting with Kerry Gordy and she has Jasmine along for the ride. After they shake hands, Briana does a little improvised blues singing audition for Kerry, which goes…poorly, to put it kindly. “Weak, weak, weak, weak, weak,” Kerry shakes his head. He weirdly asks Jasmine to sing too, which she does – better than Briana. As the awkwardness hangs in the room, Briana tries again, to no avail. “Ooh, that was horrible!” Kerry complains while Jasmine tries to back slowly out of the room. A crushed Briana tries again and again, but Kerry is done here. He tells Briana she’s too scared to be a star which is rough to hear, but seems true. He’s going to put Briana with some producers to see what she can do, but it doesn’t look promising.

In a dream deferred elsewhere, Elena is meeting with the makeup company she’s attempting to partner with. They want her to do a “Little Person, Little Palette” makeup line, which Elena thinks could be to her advantage. (If only she would have listened to that designer who told her to focus her fashion line on little people last year, she could have made bank, in my opinion.). They’re going to make some samples and discuss cost once the samples are in, which sounds positive to Elena and fishy to me. #SavePreston’sRetirement! #GoFundPreston!

It’s the Lip Gloss video shoot day! The theme is ’80s (of course) and Christy tells the gang that only Terra and Tonya are confirmed to join them, which doesn’t sit well with Pauly and GloZell. Briana was wishy-washy about her involvement and cancels on Christy last-minute. Of course, Christy blames Briana’s flakiness on Matt, because why not? But GloZell calls it like it is: “You know what? You have the worst friends,” she snipes at a defeated Christy. Getting b*tched out by people wearing t-shirts that read “Janky” and “Stanky” is probably a low point in most people’s lives, I’d assume, but Christy takes it like a champ. She’s even thrilled when her former nemesis, Terra shows up.

Tonya and Brittney arrive next to round out the group. They practice their “Lyip-Glaws!” choreography and, I have to say, are all very good sports about the whole shebang. After the circling and twerking is finished, they wrap the video with applause and laughs. The four ladies harp on Briana not being there “because her back hurts,” and Terra predictably stirs the pot by wondering aloud if Matt didn’t want Briana there, period. Christy is sad that she and Briana aren’t as close as they used to be and fears that Briana is pushing her friends away just like she’s done with her family. Terra knows Christy feels sketchy about Matt too, but doesn’t want to lose Briana as a friend by opening her big mouth all over the place, like Terra’s already done. It remains to be seen where Briana and Matt’s relationship will go, but these ladies all seem to be walking on thin ice with Briana in the mean time.

TELL US: DO YOU THINK CHRISTY AND BRIANA ARE GROWING APART BECAUSE OF MATT? ARE BRIANA’S SINGING CAREER OR ELENA’S MAKEUP LINE GOING ANYWHERE?
