Sheree Whitfield On “Slap In The Face” Not To Be A Full-Time Cast Member On Real Housewives Of Atlanta

Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free? I hate that phrase, but I have to imagine that’s the mentality the casting department had when they wanted to demote Sheree Whitfield to a “Friend of the Housewives” on Real Housewives of Atlanta. They could get her to instigate some drama between the cast without giving her the salary of a full-time cast member. After years away, the OG cast member made her return to the show as a “Friend of the Housewives” before she got upgraded to full-time again.

Sheree is great for stirring the pot and bringing issues to the forefront, but other than that she had pretty much no storyline on her own, hence the possible reason she was asked to downgrade her role on the show. Sheree’s pride got the best of her and she turned down that secondary role. Personally, I’m concerned about how she’s going to afford the baseboards and trim for that unfinished basement at Chateau Sheree. I’m also worried that there are no instigators left on this show.

Sheree shared her side of the story in an interview with Us Weekly. She explained her thought process when she was asked to be a “Friend of the Housewives” instead of a Real Housewife: “At first I thought it was a big slap in the face when I was asked that question and I immediately said ‘No, I am not interested in doing that.”

Sheree revealed, “Then I thought about it and I was like, ‘You know what being the friend means less stress, it was less chaotic, it was a lot less to deal with.’ It was definitely better for your peace of mind. Then I thought [about it] again and was like ‘I am an original, I have already done that and when they sent over the paperwork, it was like a slap in the face.’” It seems like the remaining cast members all get along. They need Sheree to stir up drama and Sheree needs this paycheck.

Even so Sheree insists that she is so busy these days and doesn’t need to be on this show. She said, “I am working on some great things right now and I can’t spend 13 years on one show, I need to evolve and I feel like I am evolving.”

She added, “I am just not interested in being a puppet on a show for season 11. I feel like there are a lot of puppets on there and a lot of people were willing to be a puppet, that has just never been me or my character.” And Season 11 is not sounding promising. There’s no Sheree and Kenya Moore is gone (supposedly). Who is going to have drama? I’m sure eternal “Friend of the Housewives” Marlo Hampton will stir some things up, but what about the full-time cast members?
