90 Day Fiance Before The 90 Days

90 Day Fiance Before The 90 Days Recap: Love is a Battlefield

Last night’s episode of 90 Day Fiance Before The 90 Days was filled with equal parts desperation, arguments and emotional meltdowns.   This  90 Day Fiance Before The 90 Days episode gave me just enough crazy to be able to make it through the week, thankful for small annoyances in comparison to these people’s (much larger) problems.

I spent half the 90 Day Fiance Before The 90 Days episode just shaking my head in pity for these crazy people. I don’t know what we did to deserve this show, but it is the gift that keeps on giving. I don’t even know where to start. There were so many cringe-worthy moments. Someone, anyone needs to save them from themselves. Grab your favorite snack and let’s get down to business.

REBECCA, 47 (GEORGIA) AND ZIED, 26 (TUNISIA)

90 Day Fiancé Before The 90 Days Recap: Love is a Battlefield

Rebecca accompanies Zied to watch him and his friends play soccer. Like most, I was shocked to see that he was active considering he looks like a busting can of biscuits in every outfit he wears. Rebecca demands that Zied introduce her to his friends before the game. After the game, Rebecca chats with the guys and she is immediately uncomfortable when they ask her age. Hmmmm…. maybe if you hadn’t sent all of those catfish pictures, they wouldn’t have expected to see someone twenty years younger.

They probably were trying to figure out if she sent old pictures or if she just aged like milk in that short of a time. When the group hears about all the money she has spent on tattoos, they start to view her as a sugar mama. Zied is met with laughter and praise that he found a dumb American woman who can take care of him.

Rebecca and Zied get into an argument about her choice of outfit for the evening. She wants to wear a top that Zied deems too sexy to go out in public. He pleads with her to change, but Rebecca refuses to be controlled by any man regardless of the location or culture. Zied is upset, but leaves the house with Rebecca despite his concerns. At least she put on a coat, but it’s clear she is going to stick out like a sore thumb. Is she determined to be viewed as loose woman in addition to a sugar mama?

Rebecca and Zied arrive at the bar, but he is still upset. He tries to explain that in his country. Unfortunately, her choice of clothes would make people look at her like she is a bad woman. He claims he wouldn’t care in America because it’s normal, but it’s not okay in Tunisia.

Rebecca seems intent on drawing attention to herself and arguing in public. She then takes off her jacket which causes people to stare. Zied spies his friend looking at his woman and goes nuts on him. Rebecca feels like she was controlled by her ex and she refuses to be in another relationship like that. I don’t understand people who go to another country and want to be ignorant of societal norms that could put them in danger. If you want a man who doesn’t care how you dress, why seek out men from countries where women are expected to be more conservative?

It’s truly mind boggling watching some of these people try to impart American standards on non-Americans.  Did she think that he would adopt her way of thinking in his country?

TIMOTHY, 38 (NORTH CAROLINA) AND JENIFFER, 25 (COLOMBIA)

90 Day Fiancé Before The 90 Days Recap: Love is a Battlefield

Timothy is finally on his way to meet his girlfriend Jeniffer. In order to look his best, he dons gold under eye masks on the plane. Ummm… Timothy, this woman isn’t with you for your looks, trust me. You could arrive with bags under your eyes that you could swim in and she would be fine as long as your money is still attractive.

Meanwhile in Columbia, Jeniffer brags to her friends about the new life she will have based on Timothy’s social media persona. The only thing standing in her way is his ex, Veronica, and perhaps the fact that he may not exactly live the life he portrays on Instagram. Something tells me things are about to get interesting.

Timothy arrives in Columbia with a huge teddy bear in hand. He is concerned that Jeniffer isn’t going to find him attractive because he knows she is out of his league. Well… can’t blame him for worrying, he isn’t lying.

When Jeniffer sees her man she doesn’t seem disgusted, so that at least is a good sign. The one thing I am questioning is why Timothy has a pea coat on in the airport? Is he expecting a snowstorm in Columbia? At least, he made one good decision when he brought the teddy bear for her daughter. Jeniffer is very impressed that he thought of something to make her daughter happy.

90 Day Fiancé Before The 90 Days Recap: Love is a Battlefield

Timothy and Jeniffer are on their way to the house he rented for the visit. Jeniffer can tell that Timothy is so nervous because he can barely look at her. In the car, they get into an argument about his ex, Veronica, calling to ask if he arrived safely. Jeniffer isn’t having it! She feels like Veronica is too involved in Timothy’s life, she wonders if she is playing the role of mother or wife. Honestly, I think Veronica is protecting her investment and is trying to sabotage Timothy. He is just too dumb to realize it.

BENJAMIN, 33 (PHOENIX, AZ) and AKINYI, 25 (KENYA)

90 Day Fiancé Before The 90 Days Recap: Love is a Battlefield

Benjamin spends the day with his son before he leaves to go for Kenya to meet Akinyi. He decides not to tell his son about his girlfriend just in case things don’t work out. He is still worried that he may not be able to afford the bride price if he decides to propose.

Is it me or are most of the people on these shows who seek out mail order brides broke? It truly makes no sense to me. These people live like paupers, but scrounge up money for K1 Visas, trips and to send money.

Akinyi speaks to her sister about Benjamin’s pending arrival. She admits that Benjamin is not her type, but she does like that he is respectful.  She also likes that he is white because in her mind that means he has money. Oh, Akinyi you are in for quite the shocker. She is worried about her father and brother meeting Benjamin. He will have to impress them before they will give their blessing for the relationship.

I’m not sure what Akinyi is thinking. She doesn’t really want to be a stepmother and considering Benjamin has a child, it would be inevitable. I don’t think either of them will meet the other’s expectations. One is broke and the other doesn’t want to deal with a child. This is just a typical 90 Day Fiance Before The 90 Days couple: delusional.

Benjamin has arrived in Kenya and is excited and nervous to finally meet Akinyi. She is just as nervous to meet the first white man she has ever dated. They greet each other with a kiss and seem genuinely happy to see each other.

In an interview with the 90 Day Fiance Before The 90 Days producers, she claims Benjamin is handsome. I wonder if that will be the case when she finds out he is poor.

DARCEY, 44 (CONNECTICUT) AND TOM, 39 (UNITED KINGDOM)

90 Day Fiancé Before The 90 Days Recap: Love is a Battlefield

Darcey Silva is still forcing herself to pretend she is attracted to her boyfriend in her head, Tom Brooks. When they arrive at the Airbnb, Darcey slips back into being a needy, low self-esteem having emotional basket case. She begins crying and telling Tom she has never been treated this way just because he rented a house. Ummm…. Has she ever watched How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days? No man likes a woman who cries uncontrollably and talks about her ex incessantly…ugh.

Tom is basically forced to sleep in the bed and cuddle with Darcey because he fears she may lose her mind if she is left alone. Girl…….. The desperation is REAL!!!! Why are you begging this man to lay with you? There is nothing sexy or even fun about a damaged woman. I can’t believe at her age Darcey can’t even at least pretend to be normal for 24 hours.

It’s the next morning and Darcey is completely oblivious to the ass she made of herself the night before. She is shocked when Tom tells her he had a nose bleed because she hit him after getting drunk. I’m sure Jesse Meester is somewhere saying “I told you so.”

Tom decides to take Darcey on a boat ride and she is having a hard time holding it together. Ugh… this woman is a pill. She inquires about whether she and Tom are exclusive. Tom admits he had been seeing other women, but just recently told them that he wouldn’t be seeing them anymore. When I say recent, I mean only 5 days before Darcey’s arrival.

Avery, 19 (Ohio) and Omar, 24 (Syria)

90 Day Fiancé Before The 90 Days Recap: Love is a Battlefield

Omar is taking Avery and her mother shopping to pick out a wedding dress. Avery’s mother is shocked that the groom would have to come approve a dress. Omar wants to make sure she isn’t wearing anything that is tight or wouldn’t be appropriate in his culture. Her mother is aggravated that Omar is already telling her daughter what to do. She is worried that one day Avery will get tired of being so submissive. I think the mom is right. Avery will eventually find another hobby and realize exactly what she signed up for when she moves to Syria.

Omar takes Avery and her mother, Teri, out to dinner. Teri tries to encourage her daughter to order wine with dinner. Avery quickly denies that she drinks, much to the delight of Omar who thinks it’s harmful. Teri then proceeds to interrogate Omar about things she read on the internet about husbands beating or taking multiple wives.

Omar becomes nervous about his marriage when he realizes his fiancée’s mother has no respect for his religion. I don’t think this relationship is going to last very long. One day, Avery may decide she doesn’t want to be the demure person Omar expects her to be. It’s possible she may miss her old way of life one day. Avery doesn’t listen to what her mother thinks either. So, I find it hard to believe she will be able to just follow her husband’s lead.

CAESAR, 46 (NORTH CAROLINA) AND MARIA, 28 (UKRAINE)

90 Day Fiancé Before The 90 Days Recap: Love is a Battlefield

Caesar is still holding on to the dream that he is going to meet the woman who has been scamming him. Despite his flight leaving tomorrow, he hasn’t heard from Maria in days. The next day the 90 Day Fiance Before The 90 Days producers ask if Caesar received a response to any of his messages. Of course, he hasn’t! The TLCteam knows they are setting this man up for failure.

He is living in a small barren apartment and spending every dime he has to try to make a fantasy happen. How do these types of people survive in life? Caesar has a better chance of buying magic beans and finding riches in the sky than he does at meeting Maria.

Caesar arrives in Mexico to find two things have not arrived: Maria and his luggage. He is still sending messages to her while she is probably somewhere laughing while spending his money. Now, he is sitting in a hotel lonely with no money, no clothes, and no woman. He admits that Maria has ghosted him at least three times before when he has tried to see her. Poor Caesar (literally). This man doesn’t have a clue in the world. I’m sure there is some lonely woman in America who would be happy to have a live-in nail tech. But no, he wants to outsource a woman and force her to wear edible panties.

TELL US- WHAT DID YOU THINK OF DARCEY’S MELTDOWN ON THE FIRST NIGHT? DO YOU THINK AVERY WILL GET TIRED OF BEING A CONSERVATIVE WIFE?  DO YOU THINK MARIA WILL SHOW UP IN MEXICO? DO YOU THIN REBECCA WAS WRONG FOR WEARING AN OUTFIT THAT COULD POTENTIALLY EMBARRASS ZIED? DO YOU THINK AKINYI TRULY LIKES BENJAMIN OR ONLY WANTS HIS MONEY? IS JENIFFER JEALOUS OR RIGHT TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT TIMOTHY’S EX? WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THIS 90 DAY FIANCE BEFORE THE 90 DAYS EPISODE?
