Dorit Kemsley Feels Bad For Hilaria Baldwin Amid Fake Accent Drama

Unless you have been living under a rock, this past week has brought us one of the major entertainment scandals of 2020. As if it couldn’t get any more wild. The story involves Hilaria Baldwin, wife of Alec Baldwin, and the accusations that she is posing as a Spanish woman. Hilaria, born “Hilary” was born and raised in Massachusetts in case you were wondering.

Erm, Hilaria, has been out there saying she’s from Spain. She maintains that she has been back and forth between the US and Spain for years. It turns out her family does live there now, but she didn’t exactly grow up there. The devil is in the details and they are confusing to say the least. But one major thing that landed Hilaria in hot water was old footage of her with a distinctly Spanish accent. She even forgot the English word for cucumber in one clip. While the internet is busy skewering her, at least Hilaria has one housewife in her corner.

In case you couldn’t guess, the obvious champion of someone else faking an accent would be none other than Dorit Kemsley. It’s true, our International Scam Goddess Dorit has long been a source of confusion on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Her own accent and upbringing has been questioned extensively, although no one seems to really care anymore. I guess there’s enough drama on that show to contend with. Just kidding, it’s boring and stale and we should really be asking Dorit what her deal is. Anyway.

According to Us Weekly, Dorit she feels “bad” for Hilaria, which she shared via Instagram Story.  She also said that the “trolling and bullying” should come to an end. Dorit admitted, “I feel bad for what she’s going through in the press at the moment. I don’t think she deserves it. I’ve had so much scrutiny over the way I speak, I’ve learned to ignore all the noise but at first it was really hurtful.” Listen, I love Dorit, but she had rightful scrutiny over the way she speaks. Why? Because she’s a random lady from Connecticut speaking with an accent that isn’t American. Where she was born and raised, mind you.

Dorit continued, “I’m sure all of this backlash has been hard on her. I don’t know her but I’ve followed her for years and I hope she’s back on social media soon. … If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” Zero surprise that Dorit would be following someone whose main aesthetic is doing yoga poses in the middle of an airplane aisle.

A few years ago, Dorit explained on The Daily Dish the confusion surrounding her own accent. In the interview, she said, “I think the way I speak is probably a combination of many things. First and foremost, I am married to a Brit [PK Kemsley] who’s got a very, very strong London accent, and I’m sure some of his inflections have sort of rolled over on me.

She continued, “My parents are not American. I was born and raised in America. I did spend a significant amount of time, nearly 10 years, back and forth going to Europe, I spent a lot of time working all over the world and in various places of the world where people didn’t speak English all that well.”

Does this clear things up for everyone? Two famous women, both born and raised in the US, somehow have developed accents after living for various periods in time overseas. Either way, both are strange tales, and both are equally deserving of one big eye roll.
