Anyone who watched Very Cavallari, even just season one, could have written this headline. It seemed so obvious from the second Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler were on screen that these two were not meant to be. In my opinion Jay brought about as much passion to his marriage as he did to the football field. And going into both careers knowing that they would be filmed for millions to see is probably the most embarrassing part of it all. Jay just can’t win. Literally and figuratively.
Kristin announced her split from Jay via Instagram in April of 2020. At the time she explained, “With great sadness, after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce. We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of. This is just the situation of two people growing apart. We ask everyone to respect our privacy as we navigate this difficult time within our family.”
In the meantime, a lot has gone down between Kristin and Jay. Most hilariously was the alleged love triangle Kristin found herself in with Craig Conover and Austen Kroll. I still can’t get over how random this was. After denying anything more than a friendship with the Southern Charmers, Kristen decided to drag Madison LeCroy and Jay’s relationship through the mud publicly too. This was truly such a strange time in Bravo and reality TV history. Let’s covet it forever.
In a recent interview with Kaitlyn Bristowe picked up by Page Six, Kristin described her tumultuous divorce as, “such a roller coaster but … probably the best decision I’ve ever made.” Given the things we’ve seen since her split from Jay, it’s hard not to agree.
“There’s been times over the last 18 months where I’m like, ‘Is this the right decision?’Jay [and] I actually went on a couple of dates like months and months and months ago. But, then I was like … It’s not there for me anymore.”
Kristin then explained, “The thing with Jay is, we aren’t getting our divorce because of love lost, right, which made it really challenging because we were crazy about each other.” Were you though? Am I the only one who didn’t see that supposed love bleeding through the screen when Very Cavallari was airing? She explained, “I just decided I didn’t want to be in a toxic relationship anymore and I had to break it off.”
