Making it official. After a rookie season that prominently featured her marriage troubles, Dr. Jen Armstrong filed for legal separation from her husband, Ryne Holliday. The Real Housewives of Orange County star filed the documents on May 13th of this year but listed the date of separation as September of 2021. So it’s obvious that their marriage has been tanking for some time. Now Jen is taking the next step to being single.
As reported by Radar Online, Jen has informed the courts that she would like a divorce instead of a legal separation. Interestingly enough, she also updated the date of separation to April of this year. The couple have been married for almost 9 years and have 3 kids together. Jen is asking for primary legal and physical custody of the children. She stated that Ryne should be awarded visitation, despite seemingly being the primary caregiver.
Jen is also requesting that Ryne’s right to spousal support be terminated. Which is kind of cold, if you ask me. In the filing, her lawyer listed bank accounts, properties and cars that Jen doesn’t want to share in their split. In addition, she wants to keep everything acquired prior to their marriage and after their date of separation. In another blow to Ryne, Jen is demanding 90% interest on three of their homes.
Other items listed were her cosmetic dermatology practice, a Porsche, jewelry and any inheritance. Another surprise on the list? The couple received a $750k loan from her mother. Jen is asking that the couple split the repayment in half. Ryne hasn’t yet appeared in court but something tells me this might get messy.
During Jen’s time on RHOC, the couple constantly fought and bickered their way through the season. Once filming wrapped, Jen revealed that Ryne moved out but they quickly reconciled. Jen stated in February, “We separated for a while and lived life without each other. And I think that made us have more of an appreciation for who the other person was and have a different outlook on getting back together and putting in the work to stay together.”
Regardless, not everyone believes that this split is legitimate. Former RHOC housewife and internet big mouth Kelly Dodd recently suggested that this is all for a storyline. Kelly commented on social media, “Doesn’t mean they filed for divorce. Just means they want another season.”
