The Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay Bryan Abasalo

Bachlorette Alum Rachel Lindsay Gives Credit To Ashton Kutcher For Helping Her Find Her Husband

When Ashton Kutcher made a guest appearance on Season 21 of The Bachelorette, he took the job seriously. He gave Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay some dating advice that helped her find her now-husband Bryan Abasolo.

While interviewing Ashton and co-star Reese Witherspoon about their new film Your Place or Mine for Extra, Rachel expressed how grateful she is to the actor for nudging her in the right direction. People has the details.

In 2017, Ashton and his wife Mila Kunis visited the set of The Bachelorette to host a group date. The couple, who were fans of both the show and Rachel, called producers and asked to appear on the show to help her find her husband.

The famous couple put the men on the group date through their paces in a “Husband Challenge.” The obstacle course included changing a diaper, strapping a baby into a BabyBjörn, vacuuming, and setting a table.

Ashton, who wore a “Trophy Husband” T-shirt for the event, wasn’t impressed with the men. The actor felt that they were more interested in winning the competition than in spending time with Rachel. Ashton pulled the Bachelorette aside and shared his insight. “He said to me, ‘I’m telling you: I’m looking around this room and your husband’s not here,'” Rachel shared.

More importantly, Ashton gave Rachel some general dating advice that has worked in her marriage. “He told me to talk to [my future husband] about love languages and read the book Sapiens,” the attorney said. “I remember all this advice — and it worked. We’ve been married three and a half years.”

Ashton added his memory of the group date. “I was like ‘none of these. You know why? Because they were all more interested in beating each other,” he explained. Rachel admitted, “I’m indebted to him and Mila.”

Ultimately, Rachel and Bryan fell in love and got engaged at the season’s end. They got married in 2019. Though their love story began on a TV show, Rachel and Bryan have pulled back from public life. Instead they are choosing to keep the details of their personal life private.

“Quite naturally, the audience wants to know what we are doing, if we are okay, and what is next for our future. They want the love story to still play out for their public perception,” the Dallas native wrote in a 2022 blog post. “But our contractual public story, ended on August 7, 2017.”

Rachel is no longer closely tied to the Bachelor franchise. She was swept into the Chris Harrison controversy in 2021, while doing an interview with the show’s former host. Chris defended Bachelor contestant Rachael Kirkconnell when photos surfaced of her at an “Old South Antebellum” party. Chris effectively ended his own career with the Bachelor franchise. And Rachel wasn’t happy about being included in the drama.
