Married At First Sight Season 16 Episode 7 Recap: “Jamaican Me Crazy”

Last night’s episode of Married At First Sight  just really put things into perspective. The writing is on the wall, and some are not looking hard enough to see it. Whew! If the red flags are already waving in the wind, what is going to happen once they fully move into their new shared space?

A vacation is one thing, but things always get real when the couples merge their life with their stranger spouse. Is it just me, or are most of these couples on the road to breaking up and the honeymoon just ended? I can’t wait to see how things unfold.

The five couples share final moments together in paradise. One couple fights their way back to common ground. A heart-to-heart does more harm than good.  The honeymoon ends and couples travel home where the shared spaces will deepen some bonds. Let’s get straight into the recap!

Christopher & Nicole

Chris is devastated when he learns that the new apartment has a two dog limit. With Nicole’s dog, they would have a total of three dogs in their home. When she notices Chris sitting outside, she finds him crying hysterically at the thought of being without his dog or jeopardizing his marriage. To her credit, Nicole is patient and goes into problem solving mode.

Eventually, they speak to the producers and Nicole decides to let her dog stay at her apartment with one of her family members during the experiment. They will still interact together, but both Chris’ dogs will be in their new home for a few weeks. Nicole has continued to impress me. But as much as I have liked the way things have been going, I am just waiting for a ball to drop. I hope I am wrong, but I keep waiting for Nicole to revert back to some of her old ways.

Clint & Gina

Gina is still playing victim after her feelings were hurt by Clint telling her she isn’t his usual physical type. It is important to note, she casually did the exact same thing to him first. Not even a day beforehand. If an apology is due, I would say it should be mutual. Meanwhile, Clint seeks advice from some of the other men.

Clint decides to bite the bullet and apologize to his wife and the other wives. Of course, Gina took no accountability, but she decides to forgive him for hurting her feelings. Insert side eye. I really wish she would have acknowledged his feelings. Her comments were just as rude and offensive. But something tells me this is only just the beginning of issues these two will have.

Now that they have settled into their new apartment, Clint and Gina seem to be on one accord. They have gone from telling each other they aren’t attracted to one another, to seeming like they are getting along once again. Sigh! If only things could be that simple. There is no way that Gina is going to let that go. Just from the way she has handled things, I can tell that as soon as something happens she doesn’t like she will be out the door.

Airris & Jasmine

During a group outing, Airris tells Jasmine he thinks their relationship is at a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10. Huh? Didn’t he tell all the guys his wife likes him, but he only sees her as a friend last week? Wow! Airris, don’t waste this woman’s time.  Now I see why his cousin thought the whole idea of him getting married was a joke. It is obvious Jasmine entered the experiment with good intentions, but I am not so sure about Airris. He is so focused on sex and physical appearance that he can’t even see his wife’s positive traits.

Later, Airris finally admits to Jasmine that he only sees them as friends. Although she handles it well, she makes it clear in a post interview that she didn’t sign up for a friend. Amen! What woman wants the man she is interested in to only see her as his friend?

I guess we will see if anything changes once they begin living together. I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised by Airris’ home. He is neat and organized and has the ultimate bachelor pad. Jasmine may have her work cut out for her because he is a bit bossy. He literally walked into their apartment making rules and executive decisions.

Shaquille and Kirsten

Unfortunately, I don’t have much to say about Shaq and Kirsten. In my opinion, they are just biding their time until decision day. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t care what Kirsten says. She is not into this man. They definitely are getting along with one another, but I just don’t see any real chemistry. She probably never got over her initial lack of attraction. Shaq on the other hand is very attracted to his wife. He may seem patient, but it is only a matter of time before he will wonder why things are not progressing in their marriage.

Mackinley & Domynique

Mackinley and Domynique have a discussion about some of their differences. Things get tense when she tells him that she feels like she is forcing him to do things rather than him being happy to do it. Sigh! Come on, give the guy some credit. At least he is trying. Everyone is not the type that loves the outdoors and adventurous activities. Isn’t it more important that he is willing to try things he may not enjoy to make his wife happy? Domynique doesn’t seem to appreciate or understand that. If she wants things to last, she is going to have to accept her husband for who he is and not just who she wants him to be.

Mackinley takes Domynique to his friend’s family’s basement to show off his living quarters. Although it is not bad, she isn’t impressed. His wife is nervous that he isn’t established and wonders if he truly plans to stay in Nashville. In a post interview, he expresses frustration by her reaction, because he was up front about his situation. Honestly, I can see both sides. I would definitely be questioning some of Mackinley’s life choices. But I can also understand why he would be defensive with a woman he just met, that happens to be very critical at times.
