House of Villains Elimination: Jax Taylor Admits He Was ‘Naive’

The first House of Villains elimination has taken place, and if you’re watching the E! series (highly recommend!), you already know that Jax Taylor was the first to be sent packing from the house. And obviously, if you read the title of this story.

Now that Jax has had some time to reflect, he recognizes that he could have been more prepared going into the show. That misstep likely caused his early demise.

He told The Messenger, “To be honest, I didn’t really know anybody was until I got there. Everybody, except for one person, who to me is an iconic reality star. And also they were all on shows like 10, 15, 20 years ago, so I really didn’t watch reality back then.”

Always do your research

Not that anyone didn’t warn him. The former Vanderpump Rules star revealed, “People told me to research the show. ‘Make sure you watch all these shows, so you know how to play the game.’ And I’m kind of like, ‘Nope, I’m just gonna go in and play.’ And I didn’t do that….”

Ultimately, Jax’s failure to recognize the slippery Jonny Fairplay when he picked him as a partner did him in. Said Jax, “I was very naive when I picked him to be my partner. I just thought he was going to be honest and just tell me how to get there. I mean, I honestly thought I was well more liked than a lot of people on that show.”

Jax added, “So I screwed up. I picked the wrong [person]. I could have been better with anybody else other than Jonny, to be honest.”

Nicest guy in the group

But Jax insists it wasn’t his likability that got him booted. “I asked everybody, I go, at the premiere party, ‘Was there a reason you guys voted me off? Was there a reason to zap me?’ They’re like, ‘No, Jax, you’re actually the nicest guy of all. We just — look at you. You’re six feet tall, you’re built, you’re aggressive, you’re an alpha male. All you want to do is win. The people that look like you get voted off first,'” he claimed.

Jax concluded, “And I was like, ‘OK, I can live with that. I can live with that.'”

You can catch House of Villains on E!, Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET.
