RHOSLC’s Monica Garcia on Her ‘Volatile’ Relationship With Mom

If you’ve been watching Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, then you already know newbie Monica Garcia has been the subject of some major drama. Not just with the other ladies, but with her mom, Linda. It sometimes seems as though Linda is gunning for a spot on RHOSLC herself…

During Episode 7, the two got into a heated argument during castmate Angie Katsanevas’ Easter brunch. Both the RHOSLC cast and fans were privy to a family dispute that made everyone uncomfortable. Even those watching at home. I know I was feeling it.

In the latest episode of the hit franchise, Monica confided in Heather Gay about what life has really been like with her mom. As reported by People, Monica told Heather about their “volatile” relationship that has led to her “major abandonment issues.”

Monica explained, “My mom and I, our relationship is so volatile. I think it dates back to my whole childhood.”

The single mom of four went on to say, “When I turned 12, my mom decided that she wanted to chase her dream so she dropped me off with a family in Pennsylvania and went and lived in New York. My dad left me when I was four and then my mom left me, so I have major, major, abandonment issues because of that.”

Later in the episode, Monica revealed to the ladies that she was driving a rental car because her mom took her car after their altercation at Angie’s. “When I had to buy a new car, I pay for everything but it’s in my mom’s name, so every time she gets mad at me she takes the car. She took my car after Angie’s Easter dinner and left me without a f*cking car and my four kids,” Monica vented.

She then shared of her conversation with Linda, “This is what she said, ‘I want the car by 4 p.m. or I’m calling the police and saying it’s stolen.’ It’s sick.”

Later in a confessional, Monica admitted that she comes from “a long line of complicated relationships between mothers and their daughters.” She concluded, “All I can do is make sure my kids ever feel that and break that cycle, I guess, of emotional and mental abuse.”

Real Housewives of Salt Lake City continues Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
