Welcome to the Southern Charm Season 9, Episode 12 recap with a look at this week’s episode, “Chasing Waterfalls.” Last week showed the gang from Charleston coming down from an intense few days where they learned that Taylor was anything but sorry for following her heart. Now, the Charmers are on their first day in paradise as they gather for a meet Paige trip that, in fact, has no Paige in attendance. The tropical waters are about to become stormy as the cast learns about a salacious article that will force Olivia and Austen to pause the rekindling of their friendship.  Here’s everything that went down in Southern Charm Season 9, Episode 12!

JT shoots his shot

For multiple episodes, it has been hard to ignore JT’s love-sick puppy look he gets every time he is around Taylor. The newest edition to Southern Charm has already made it clear he would wife her up and treat her like the queen she is, yet somehow, his undying devotion isn’t catching her eye. Shep is already making it known he is not pleased with JT’s hot pursuit. It was also gross to hear JT tell Taylor at the bar, “We could take a shot and spit it into one another’s mouths.” I mean, we are still in COVID times, dude. Not surprising anyone, Taylor took him up on the offer. The girl is thirsty.

Shep’s green-eyed monster is sneaking out as he tells Whitney if Taylor and JT were to hook up, it would “be sad, really for her, and that’s not anything against JT.” I mean, Shep, bro, it kinda is a backhanded compliment. Whitney wagers confidently in his Bass Pro Shop hat that if they did hook up, it would be a “revenge ploy.” Shep notes what everyone is thinking: “Single Taylor is a dangerous woman.”

Shep’s Taylor theory

Don’t be confused by the use of big words, as Shep reveals his hypothesis about Taylor’s motives. The playboy of Charleston shares that he thinks “Taylor is of this ilk that she thinks she needs a guy.” For those who don’t know the meaning of ilk, the definition is “a type of person or thing similar to one already referred to.” Thank you, Miriam Webster. Shep explains, “What are you if you don’t have a boyfriend? Ya know, but that is a whole other discussion.” I want to point out I loved Shep’s extreme Southern twain as he shared this; it really added to his annoyance.

Shep makes a solid point in saying that Taylor needs to pump the breaks and be more like Paige, who literally has cold feet when committing to Craig. Shep cements the fact that he “doesn’t have faith in any relationships anymore,” while Whitney points out that Craig is just “delusional and believes that the earth is flat.” But I love me a tin foil hat, Craig. Give us more of that, Bravo.

Madison the mess

Even Ms. Madison notices the sparks between JT and Taylor. She reminds her frenemy that she saw them on the balcony drinking champagne until 4 a.m. The blonde bombshell was quick to point out poolside in Jamaica that Taylor seems to be getting around. Madison makes a fair appraisal as she shares that she believes that JT may be Taylor’s only friend. However, hell must have frozen over as the mother of one went on to apologize to Taylor for yelling at her during JT’s dinner, saying, “For me, it was just the fact that I was getting fed all these things about you that didn’t match up.”

In her defense, Taylor claims she “genuinely has a good time with JT.” He was caught complimenting her beauty and dance skills in a production video. It is clear that Taylor has already friendzoned him, telling cameras, “He makes me laugh, but I feel like he would be a lot to handle.” Someone needs to break this news to my boy, JT. It honestly hurts to watch him continue to put himself out there.

Page Six article shame

No jungle excursion is complete without a random source speaking out to Page Six. This time, it seemingly confirmed a recent hookup, while questioning the timeline. While on the sprinter van ride, Shep’s phone jingles, and some juicy gossip is revealed. The group learns that Austen did, in fact, sleep with Taylor. God, I feel so bad for Olivia. Austen immediately knows that his relationship with his ex is “unwinnable,” noting Olivia is definitely done with him.

Not to be overlooked is the tiny scuffle Craig and Shep had. Even though Craig may be living in La La Land, he does seem to be the only male who can hold down a relationship. According to Shep, who claims Paige has cheated on Craig even though he has no evidence his friend often gets off “Scott free with his relationship,” with Craig pointing out he “doesn’t cheat on his girlfriend, buddy.” Oh boy, shots fired!

Southern Charm Season 9 airs Thursday at 9/8c on Bravo.
