Teddi Mellencamp Worried She Wasn’t Going to ‘Be There’ for Family Amid Cancer Battle

Teddi Mellencamp has been bravely fighting skin cancer since October 2022, when she found the first of 13 melanomas. She’s used her platform as an alum of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and a co-host on the Two T’s In A Pod podcast to bring awareness to her followers. She also speaks very frankly about all aspects of her cancer battle.

Despite her positive outlook and focus on recovery, Teddi is not beyond experiencing moments of despair. While she’s not a “crier,” she does have times of upset.

She detailed one of them while chatting on Two Ts In A Pod.

Teddi revealed “this moment” where she lost control of her emotions

Teddi spoke alongside Real Housewives of Orange County favorite Tamra Judge.

Tamra asked Teddi if she ever thought negatively. “Do you ever at one point think about death? Or is this going to attach to organs? Or this is my future?” Tamra wondered if Teddi would “get scared in general? You’re not a big crier.”

“I know, even though they made me to be a one on the show. I’m not necessarily a very big crier. It’s hard for me to be in touch with my emotions that way,” the accountability coach answered.

“I had this moment of like, ‘I’m not going to be there for my family.’ I texted Kyle [Richards] and two of our other best friends. And I texted you too.”

She continued: “And I just said, ‘You guys, I really need you to be on point with who Edwin [Arroyave] marries. And who’s gonna take over … Who’s gonna raise my kids?'”

Teddi’s thirteenth melanoma was proving troublesome. Doctors pursued an immunotherapy cream as a first option. When that did not prove as effective as hoped, Teddi underwent an invasive surgery.

Teddi previously revealed on Watch What Happens Live: “I’m on my 13th [melanoma]. The 13th one came back and my margins aren’t clear. It’s the first time that’s happened. Now, I’ve started an immunotherapy cream.”

Teddi shared an Instagram post on the matter. “Long story short: The immunotherapy treatment did not work on my melanomas,” she wrote. “I had a wide excision removal on my most recent melanoma last week to see if it did and sadly it did not.”

“But the pain and discomfort are all worth it,” Teddi continued. “The outpouring of love and prayers in the comments and DMs has left me speechless (which is tough). I wish I could respond to everyone but please know I am forever grateful. Please get your skin checked. I promise you do not want to go through this.”
