Annemarie Wiley Responds to Anesthesiologist Organization Backlash, Throws Shade at RHOBH Production

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ latest future one-and-done, Annemarie Wiley, is clapping back at the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) over their “defamation campaign” against her.

In recent episodes of RHOBH, Annemarie has had an odd obsession with Sutton Stracke’s “narrow esophagus.” As a “medical professional,” Annemarie questioned Sutton’s diagnosis. Flaunting her credentials as a nurse anesthetist, the newbie claimed to know about “airway anatomy.” She even suggested that Sutton’s difficulty swallowing could be just an attempt to disguise an eating disorder. Not cool.

After the ASA called her out for misrepresenting her medical qualifications, the mom of four did what all respected medical professionals do in such a situation. She took to her Instagram Stories to defend herself.

Defense or deflection?

“I do not condone the ASA’s defamation campaign,” Annemarie wrote on her Instagram Stories. “I am a CRNA, a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.”

Insisting she is “extremely proud of my profession, I will not be accused of title misappropriation because a cast mate needed a storyline … This is my real life and my career.”

Annemarie denies that she ever said she was an anesthesiologist or a doctor of any kind. However, she has, at times, implied to her co-stars that she went to medical school. Crystal Kung Minkoff claimed on the January 17 episode that Annemarie introduced herself as a doctor when they first met. (I’m glad Crystal spoke up because I always forget she’s even there.)

RHOBH’s newest addition concluded her post, saying, “My aim is to educate the pubic (sic) on who CRNAs are and what we do in providing the highest quality of anesthesia care to those we serve.”

The esophagus storyline

In a follow-up post, Annemarie apologized for ever questioning Sutton’s condition. Sutton is not your patient, Annie. She is already under a doctor’s care. It’s unprofessional to question her doctor’s diagnosis. Also none of your business.

“That storyline was unauthentically dragged on for far too long,” she said, “and I have been dragged through the mud in the process.” Welcome to reality television. If you say something stupid, it can haunt you for a long time.

Now can we please stop talking about Sutton’s esophagus? Time to move on. Maybe Annemarie would like to second guess someone else’s diagnosis?

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills continues Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
