Was It Necessary To Have Mary Cosby At the RHOSLC Season 4 Reunion?

Mary Cosby returned to Real Housewives of Salt Lake City for Season 4 after taking a break last season. The 51-year-old didn’t get her snowflake back, but she made appearances here and there throughout the season. Mary wasn’t present for Part I of the reunion but she did get a place on the couch for Part II. Fans were divided about her appearance in Part II, considering she was absent for most of the drama this season. So, where do we fall on this internet debate? We absolutely think it was necessary to have Mary Cosby at the RHOSLC Season 4 reunion. Here’s why.

She’s Hilarious

Say what you want about Mary but you can’t deny she is hilarious. She was the comedic relief of the season. Mary had no shortage of funny moments at the reunion, from doubling-down on her inbred comment about Heather Gay to thanking Andy Cohen after he called her lack of a filter “shocking.” She is unapologetically herself and we can’t help but love her for it. What other housewife would share details about her son’s sex life at a reunion? She’s everything for that.

Mary Revealed Why She Was Absent from the Last Reunion

Mary chose not to attend the reunion for RHOSLC Season 2, which disappointed the cast and viewers. At the Season 4 reunion, Andy asked Mary why she opted out of her last reunion. The Bravo star shared she felt mistreated by her co-stars and was upset about alleged rumors. She did not specify what she was referring to, but at the time, there was a lot of gossip about the church Mary belongs to being cult-like. Some of her co-stars, including Lisa Barlow and Whitney Rose, gave voice to the rumors on the show.

We’ve been wondering about Mary’s absence from the Season 2 reunion and we were glad we got some insight on her absence.

She Kept It Real

No one keeps it real like Mary Cosby. The Utah native is never afraid to share her opinion, even if it comes at the cost of her co-stars’ feelings. During the reunion, Andy asked her which of the women she likes. While many people would shy away and suggest they are fond of everyone on the couch, Mary is not like that. And thank god. That’s what makes her a great reality TV star.

She revealed that she only cares for three of the women on the couch.

“I do like Angie [Katsanevas],” she told Andy. “I like Monica. She’s pretty. I think she’s a good addition. And I love Meredith.”

Okayyy. Lisa, Whitney, and Heather found dead.

We Got to See Mary Go Head to Head With Whitney

Mary and Whitney haven’t always seen eye to eye. I mean, who could forget Mary’s infamous “You can go, little girl” comment in Season 2? While some viewers may have hoped for a reconciliation in RHOSLC Season 4, we preferred to watch them feud. Whitney tried to apologize for some of her comments at the reunion but Mary wasn’t having it. She even went as far as to accuse Whitney of being racist because of her past ties to the Mormon church. Yikes.

She Needed to Get Back in Andy’s Good Graces

It is not clear if Mary was fired or left on her own accord after Season 2. However, we know Andy has little patience for housewives that opt out of the reunion. Mary had a lot to prove after her abrupt exit from the show.

She was demoted from a full-time housewife to a friend of, so it seems like Bravo is still on the fence about her place on the show. Or maybe she wanted to be a friend. We don’t know for sure. But we do know that her opting out of another reunion would not have been good. She needed to show up and answer some hard questions. And she did. We think her performance at the reunion could help her land a full-time spot on Season 5.

We loved Mary on the RHOSLC reunion and we hope to see her as a full-time housewife next season.
