The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 13 came to a dramatic end this week. But now, Kyle Richards is reflecting on where it all began, and indeed, where she was when news of her separation broke.
In the RHOBH Season 13 finale, viewers saw how shocked Kyle’s castmates were as news of her separation broke. While the season highlighted the marital troubles between Kyle and Mauricio Umansky, it seemed no one suspected a full-on separation would come to pass.
Based on Kyle’s account, she may have been the last to know about it among the RHOBH cast. After the finale came to a close, Kyle shared her memory of the news leaking.
Kyle felt “forced” to tell her kids about her separation
In the RHOBH After Show, Kyle reflected on the day the news of her separation hit the press. She said she would “never forget” it. “It was July 3rd, and I was in Aspen, and a story came out saying that Mo and I were separated. We still are,” she added, clarifying they were still under the same roof.
“But we were separated because we weren’t living as a married couple.” She admitted that she and Mo weren’t ready to discuss it with their kids, also confessing that she felt “embarrassed to say” as much. Kyle also expressed an underlying feeling of “just hoping it [would go] away.”
She recalled loading up the car to head home from Aspen with her family when suddenly, “My phone was just blowing up. … Then I see the girls all looking at their phones.” She further remembered, “My whole body went numb.” The family briefly discussed the news in the car but Kyle said she just wanted to enjoy the day.
Kyle reported that it was a good day on the river. However, later in the day, her daughters “couldn’t stop crying.” The family had multitudes reaching out to them as if someone had died. Kyle said they were essentially “forced” to confront the situation.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 13 reunion begins Wednesday, February 28 on Bravo.
