Andy Cohen Critiques RHOP Cast After Season 8: ‘Frustrating to Watch’

The Real Housewives just became a legal adult when RHOC turned 18. However, with several franchises having lackluster seasons lately, could the concept be going through some growing pains? Season 8 of The Real Housewives of Potomac was especially met with disappointment. It gave us a boring cast trip, unresolved arguments, and some of the ladies refusing to engage or film with others.

Evidently, Andy Cohen shared some of RHOP viewers’ irritation. Part 1 of the Season 8 reunion aired last night, and Andy took the ladies to task over their fractured group dynamic. Can they get it together for Season 9?

Andy told the RHOP cast why Season 8 was so “frustrating to watch”

Season 8 left much to be desired. Fans on social media deemed it “boring” and “unwatchable.” A power struggle seemed to develop among the cast. Gizelle Bryant and Candiace Dillard Bassett wouldn’t even film together outside of large groups due to bad blood still leaking over from Season 7.

Andy seemingly shared fans’ feelings and let the ladies know pretty much right from the jump of Part 1 of the reunion.

“I have to say I love this show, but as a fan it was somewhat frustrating to watch this season because the show is about finding common ground and it’s about taking ownership of actions as they affect others,” Andy explained.

Seemingly hoping for the reunion to be less of a disappointment, he asked, “Are any of you willing to say now that you feel prepared to do that tonight?”

Karen Huger answered first. “Andy I believe in these women, each and every one of them. I know they went through a lot, but I do believe that these girls can pull through, and I expect nothing less tonight.”

“I’m looking forward as well to owning what I need to own and moving forward,” offered Candiace.

Wendy Osefo and Mia Thornton agreed to Candiace’s plan.

Karen then directly asked for clear answers from The Green-Eyed Bandits, Gizelle and Robyn Dixon. “Yeah, I’m looking forward to the ownership,” Gizelle said, with Robyn unconvincingly adding, “Sure.”

Since the reunion was filmed, Candiace announced her departure from the show. And, there’s rumors that Robyn might be done as well. Season 9 is already shaping up to be shaken up.

Part 2 of the RHOP reunion airs Sunday, April 7 at 8/7c. on Bravo.
