Brittany Cartwright Reveals Reason for Jax Taylor Split: ‘Veil Was Lifted’

Brittany Cartwright is finally sharing details for the split from Jax Taylor. The Valley star and her Vanderpump Rules alum husband were married in June 2019 and welcomed son Cruz in April 2021. They were the picture of a happy family until announcing their separation in February of this year.

Yet neither party gave reasons for the dissolution of their relationship. Both wanted to stay focused on co-parenting their son.

But during a recent interview, Brittany opened up to host Andy Cohen about what caused her to finally pull the plug.

The atmosphere at home was “very toxic”

“Jax is Jax, whether he’s on TV or not on TV – that’s something everybody needs to understand,’ Brittany prefaced during a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live.

“We just had a horrible fight and it was like a veil was lifted, and I noticed everything wrong,” the former Vanderpump explained.

It came down to Brittany hitting “her breaking point.” She added, “it’s hard to come back from that.”

Jax got triggered after his Kentucky native wife went out with their costar from The Valley, Kristen Doute.

“He kind of woke up one morning and was mad that I went out with Kristen the night before, and kind of made up a story in his own head and started a fight about something that never happened,” Brittany explained.

The former couple endured fights over just “about everything.” The VPR alum added, “it could be about anything at that point.”

Brittany labeled the atmosphere at home “very toxic.” She’s currently “still at the Airbnb.”

But the reality TV star denies infidelity on Jax’s part, though he has quite a history with that particular offense.

Brittany stated, ‘I did all the digging. We made sure that wasn’t true.” Though she added, “I feel like there’s always rumors about Jax, no matter what.”

Son Cruz is their “main priority”

Another reason for the split was the couple’s was the lack sex life. Brittany told Andy that she and Jax “never have sex.”

The Bravo executive producer questioned the timing, “Can you pinpoint when that happened? Was that after Cruz was born?”

‘A little bit before, kind of like when we made the baby we were good and then, you know,’ she revealed.

Though the estranged spouses spoke about going to couples therapy, they had yet to attend a session. That lack of initiative caused a strain.

Despite their personal issues, Jax and Brittany are committed to co-parenting their three-year-old son Cruz.

“Jax is a great father, I’ll give him that. That’s our main priority, no matter what,” Brittany concluded.
