Brittany Cartwright ‘Friendly’ With Jax Taylor Despite Separation

Amid their separation, The Valley stars Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor were invited to the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner on April 27. They both attended, though individually rather than as a couple.

Despite the separation, Britt said, they remain “friendly” for the sake of their three-year-old son Cruz. Jax and Brittany married in an elaborate Kentucky Castle wedding in 2019 and announced their separation in February 2024.

Their current relationship runs parallel to their accommodations in Washington D.C.: “Same hotel, different rooms … That’s really all I want to say about him,” the Vanderpump Rules alum told People.

Britt needed some space

Brittany announced the split on their podcast When Reality Hits with Jax and Brittany in February. Friend and Valley castmate Michelle Lally filled in for Jax, who was absent that day.

“Jax and I are taking time apart,” Britt said at the time. “I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health.”

At the premiere of The Valley, she said that she “really needed to step back from” their relationship. Even though Jax and Britt had been publicly discussing trying for a second child, fans were not that surprised that she could no longer live with her volatile husband.

“Once a woman hits her breaking point, it’s like ‘Done,'” said the Mamaw’s Beer Cheese founder. “Something clicked in my head, and I was, like, ‘I need to step away from this situation. This is not healthy … My son deserves better. I deserve better.'”

Even though she feels “relief” at their time apart, their son’s well-being remains “the most important thing” to them both.

Co-parenting little Cruz

Admitting that he and Brittany had “been going through some things for a while now,” Jax agreed that the time apart was “best for our family” right now.

“We decided to take a little bit of a breather,” he added. “I’m not sure what the future holds for [us]. But as of right now, this is just the best-case scenario … This is not a publicity stunt.”

So far, co-parenting seems to be working for them. “We’re doing a really good job going back and forth,” Brittany said. “I’ll also take him to the house and play, and we’ll swim one day or have him play on his play set … We’ll do different things.”

“I think it’s honestly been better because we aren’t fighting in front of [Cruz].” Britt continued. “That’s what is most important right now … That’s why I had to get him out of that situation in the first place.”

The Valley continues Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
