On Real Housewives of Orange County, Heather Dubrow’s mammogram became a major source of drama when she felt like her castmates didn’t check up on her after receiving her results. The test revealed that she had a high-risk factor for developing breast cancer, and she felt like her friends could have shown a teeny bit more concern.
You can’t blame Heather for being scared and upset when she received that mammogram result. Who wouldn’t be? But now that the dust has settled from the initial shock, Heather has shared an update on where her health stands today.
Heather Dubrow’s eye-opening results
Initially, it was Heather’s idea for the group to get mammograms together. The cameras followed the ladies on RHOC Season 18, Episode 14, and Heather eventually learned that she had a high risk of developing breast cancer. In an interview with Bravo’s The Daily Dish, she reflected on the scary moment and what it meant to her.
“My risk factor shot up hugely, which is terrifying,” Heather recalled. “Literally, the radiologist said to me, ‘Listen, if we find it, we’ll catch it early.’ And it’s like, you don’t want to hear that. You don’t want to hear anything like that.”
She continued, “I go there every year, Terry [Dubrow]’s on staff at that hospital, and so usually [the radiologist] comes out and she’s like, ‘Hey, it’s great! See you next year.’ And this was a shift, and scary since two family members just had it.”
These days, Heather confirmed that she’s healthy, but she’s remaining vigilant about the results. Armed with the information from the mammogram, she’s looking forward to making healthy decisions for her body moving forward.
“As I sit currently, I’m a healthy person,” Heather confirmed. “But it’s concerning to figure out what kind of tests I should be doing to make sure I stay that way.”
Real Housewives of Orange County continues on Thursdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
