Trigger Warning: This article contains a discussion of domestic violence charges.
Vanderpump Rules alums Ally Lewber and James Kennedy are no longer a couple. On December 10, 2024, police arrested James for suspicion of domestic violence. Prosecutors later declined to press charges against him. Now, Ally is sharing what happened that awful night.
James Kennedy was arrested after conflict with Ally Lewber

The same night, before James’ arrest, the couple had been at Kathy Hilton’s Christmas party. Ally, who is an astrologer, was reading Kathy’s chart. After Ally had completed her job, she returned to the party and James. “That’s when it was like, ‘Oh, his whole demeanor changed,’” Ally told PEOPLE. “And I could kind of tell, like, ‘Have you been drinking?’”
Since James had been sober for a year, Ally didn’t initially suspect that he had imbibed. However, when Ally, James, and Ally’s friend Jack got into the car, “It kind of spiraled,” she stated.
Ally continued, “The tension was high. We were just fighting, and then when we got out of the Uber, the fighting just continued.” Then Ally recalled the police arriving. “I don’t know who called the cops, but the cops showed up. I was not hurt physically,” Ally explained. “Emotionally, yes.”
However, the arrest log noted that a female in the home reported that “her boyfriend lifted her up and threw her to the ground.” The police allegedly confirmed to Ally that James was drunk, although they did not administer a breathalyzer.
So, Ally went to therapy and, with the support of friends and family, decided to end the relationship. “I never was physically hurt, and I never felt unsafe. I think it was more just walking on eggshells and feeling anxious about when is his next blow-up going to be,” Ally stated.
Right now, Ally is living her best life. She has her own apartment and started a podcast, StarStruck with Ally Lewber.
Vanderpump Rules is streaming on Peacock.
