Saddle up, grab your Western wear, and settle in for the Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 16 Episode 8 recap! This week, the ladies wrapped up their cast trip to Nashville, and Drew continued to be a thorn in Porsha’s side. Nothing says “Happy Birthday” like spending time with someone who may or may not be hooking up with your baby’s father.
In last week’s episode, Angela went out on a limb by inviting Drew on the trip, knowing damn well that Porsha didn’t want her there. On The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 16 Episode 8, “Boots on the Ground,” Drew landed in Nashville to join the ladies but quickly realized she might have made a mistake by accepting the half-baked invitation.
What happened on The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 16 Episode 8?
Porsha’s birthday trip to Nashville continued, and Drew made her grand arrival. Although things seemed peaceful at first, a phone call from home put a damper on the festivities. Plus, Angela found herself on the receiving end of a whole lot of shade. This is becoming a weekly occurrence for her, but this time, she overheard a drunken conversation about her husband that left her feeling rattled. Waking up in Nashville
Episode 8 picked up on Day 2 of the Nashville trip, and the ladies were waking up in various states of disarray. Porsha started her day with a plate of ribs, Shamea had to accompany her daughter to a doctor’s appointment via FaceTime, and Angela was still trying to figure out how she became Public Enemy No. 1.
“Last night was a lot. It was intense,” Angela confessed to Cynthia.
“First and foremost, my loyalty to Drew and my loyalty to any of my friends, I just don’t think they get that from me,” she said of Porsha and her pals.
Angela felt compelled to advocate for Drew in her absence, but she wound up catching strays from everyone else in the process. Fortunately, Drew arrived in Nashville on Day 2 to take some of that heat off Angela. They’re going to step into the fire together.
Drew crashed the Nashville trip
The name on everyone’s lips, Drew, arrived in Nashville with a smile on her face and a belly full of pulled pork. She walked into the house and said, “Howdy bitches!”
On the agenda for Day 2, the ladies could choose between a bartending lesson at Coyote Ugly or a whiskey tasting. Either way, the goal was to get liquored up before coming back to the house for Porsha’s Cowboy Dinner.
Although the birthday girl made a big stink about Drew coming on the trip, the two of them greeted each other with a hug. They’re both completely fine with being fake for the sake of the group.
“Once I have expressed myself and calmed down, I am not one to have daggers for you every time I see you,” Porsha claimed in a confessional.
“I’m not going to say nothing else,” she continued. “I’m good.”
Porsha said her goal was to have a drama-free day, but we all know that’s not going to happen. This is a RHOA cast trip. They don’t have drama-free days, especially after a full afternoon of booze.
Brit is still talking about the Kenya situation
Naively, we thought we were going to get through an entire episode of RHOA Season 16 without talking about the Kenya Moore Hair Spa debacle. We should have known better. Brit won’t let this go.
She went to the whiskey tasting along with Drew, Angela, and Cynthia. She had one single ounce of liquor in her system and immediately restarted her complaints about feeling a lack of support from the ladies.
As we all know, Brit wanted unconditional love from the ladies at Kelli’s Peace Brunch. She doesn’t want to be near any of Kenya’s sympathizers. However, Angela and Drew argued that Brit’s attitude at the brunch and beyond hasn’t necessarily warranted that time of response.
Cynthia, who wasn’t even at the brunch, went to bat for Brit. She told Angela and Drew that it wasn’t their place to tell Brit how to navigate the aftermath of the Kenya situation. Mark this down as another example of why Cynthia and Kenya haven’t spoken in almost a year.
“Unless y’all’s picture is up there with a penis inside y’all’s mouth in front of a room full of people, come get at me when that happens,” a liquored-up Cynthia said.
We’re not negating the seriousness of what happened at the hair spa, but at this point, Brit is beating a dead horse. It feels like she’s still latching onto the hair spa drama because, other than that, she doesn’t have much else to talk about with these women.
Pouting at the Cowboy Dinner
The ladies returned from their excursions and had a couple of hours of downtime before getting into yet another cowboy outfit. With each outing, these looks got worse and worse, but we’re going to let it slide. Half of the cast have been crammed into one bedroom on this trip, so they’re doing their best.
Porsha had this big, exciting Cowboy Dinner planned for the ladies, featuring hunky cowboys, a line dancing class, and of course, lots of food. It should have been a fun night, but Porsha got some news that soured the entire thing.
The birthday girl received word (probably from a producer) that Dennis the Hotdog King did end up filming scenes with Drew for Season 16. That information hit Porsha like a ton of bricks, and she wound up frowning for the rest of the episode.
“I was ultimately super disappointed that he chose opportunity over family,” Porsha explained in a confessional.
We’ve all been around someone who’s clearly upset about something but refuses to explain what that something is. That was Porsha at her Cowboy Dinner. She sat there with a dark cloud over her, but wouldn’t articulate what was on her mind. It felt exhausting to watch.
With Porsha on mute, the other ladies started speaking on her behalf. Once again, they started going after Angela for inviting Drew on the trip. The back-and-forth caused Drew to storm away from the dinner. She was clearly ready to clock out from this shift.
Porsha said what?
The ladies woke up on Day 3 of the Nashville trip, and we learned that a whole lot of drama went down while the cameras weren’t rolling. Fortunately, Angela filled us in, and she wasn’t happy about what happened.
Shamea, Brit, Kelli, and Porsha were having a late-night kiki by the pool. What they didn’t realize was that Angela’s room sat within earshot of them. She overheard them talking smack about her, and specifically, she heard Porsha threaten to have sex with Charles.
At first, Angela tried recording the ladies from her window, but instead, she decided to confront them head-on. It’s just another example of why Angela is an excellent addition to this cast. Bless her heart.
In a confessional, Porsha tried to act like she didn’t remember saying the comment about Angela’s husband, but her friends definitely spilled the tea in their interviews. The Hennessy got the best of Porsha, and she said what she said.
The episode ended with Angela and Drew leaving the Nashville house, pissed about how the trip unfolded. They both caught hell the entire time, and Angela had some realizations about the women in the group.
“Shamea is a puppet. Brit is a puppet. All of them are puppets to Porsha,” Angela declared.
