After years of allegations, trials, and salacious Los Angeles Times articles, Tom Girardi has finally been sentenced. The estranged husband of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne just received a seven-year prison sentence after being found guilty of stealing money from his clients for over a decade. It all helped fund the lavish lifestyle we saw on Bravo. Now, at 86 years old, the disgraced attorney suffering from dementia will finally face his punishment.
Erika Jayne’s estranged husband, RHOBH star Tom Girardi sentenced after conviction

In August 2024, a court found Tom guilty of wire fraud charges. He stole over $15 million from his clients. Following that ruling, his legal team fought to have him undergo a psychological evaluation to determine his mental state. Prosecutors were pushing for a 14-year sentence. Tom’s lawyers argued that a man in his eighties with cognitive decline shouldn’t have to sit in jail for that long. At the time, they called him “broke, half-blind, incontinent, 85-year-old man with dementia.”
According to NBC News, a judge determined that a broke, half-blind, incontinent, 86-year-old man with dementia could still serve a prison sentence. On Tuesday, June 3, a judge ordered him to seven years and three months in prison. He’ll also have to pay over $2 million in restitution to victims.
Of course, some of those victims include the family members of plane crash victims. In the 2021 documentary, Housewife and the Hustler, we saw how one of the victims sent weekly emails, begging Tom for settlement payouts.
Although this sentencing might feel like the end of the lengthy legal saga we saw play out on RHOBH, there’s still a lot of mess left in the aftermath of Tom’s fraudulent behavior. Erika is still entangled in lawsuits of her own. The families are still waiting for their payments. Between Erika’s unfortunate mess and the victims who were robbed, Tom’s impact will be felt for much longer than this seven-year prison sentence.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is streaming on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
