Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne has been under scrutiny since filing for divorce from her husband, Tom Girardi. Once his misdeeds came to light, Erika was swept into a legal whirlwind. The couple faced accusations that Tom embezzled funds to support their extravagant lifestyle.
The formerly well-respected attorney was convicted of wire fraud and stealing over $15 million from his own clients. In June 2025, Tom was sentenced to seven years in prison. Meanwhile, Erika, who had remained silent about Tom’s sentencing, is now speaking out.
Erika Jayne feels “old wounds” reopened with Tom Girardi’s prison sentence
During her podcast, Diamonds in the Rough, Erika shared how she felt when she heard the news. She was in London for some shows at the time. “And then 10 minutes before the second show, I get the news that Tom is being sent to prison … It just hurts. It reopens old healing wounds,” Erika explained. “And it is something that, you know, I had a sold-out crowd in a theater just for me, and I was so grateful. My happiest place in the whole world to be is on stage.”
She continued, “I was very disappointed because those people [in the audience] were there for me, and I felt like five percent of myself was feeling sorry for myself. I was 95 percent there, and five percent of myself was feeling sorry for myself.” The singer called her first show “flawless,” and characterized her second show, right after she learned the news, as “great.” That said, Erika was “fighting back thoughts and emotions” that kept her from giving 100 percent to the crowd. Still, she added that the audience “loved” her shows.
Previously, Erika’s attorney, Jim Wilkes, spoke out about how Erika was navigating the news about Tom. “I’m sure she’s emotionally destroyed, but there’s a part of her that’s shut off and compartmentalized,” he commented.
