How The Valley Reunion Is Failing Brittany Cartwright and Favoring Jax Taylor — Opinion

During Part 1 of The Valley Season 2 reunion, Brittany Cartwright made a shocking admission about Jax Taylor. Unfortunately, there were zero follow-up questions. Instead, the focus shifted to things Brittany had done that allegedly triggered her soon-to-be ex.

Perhaps this lack of accountability is a legal matter. After all, this new statement made at the reunion involved domestic abuse, which is incredibly serious. However, Season 2 already showed fans that abusive patterns existed in the marriage. So why is Jax getting away with his actions thus far at the reunion?

During Season 2, Brittany spoke about other things Jax had done, which fall under the category of intimate partner abuse. Thankfully, Bravo made the right call following these incidents by forcing Jax into a mental health facility before he could return to filming. However, in my opinion, Brittany deserves this same level of energy during the reunion.

During Season 2 of The Valley, we learned about several horrific things that Brittany was enduring at the hands of Jax. According to Brittany, Jax “flipped the coffee table, and it hit my knee. It turned black immediately.” Jax also allegedly threw two barstools, all because Brittany briefly entertained a fling with one of his acquaintances, Julian Sensley.

During Part 1 of the reunion, Brittany admitted that she felt so nervous to be around Jax that her body was shaking. “You should be,” Jax declared. At this, my blood ran cold. There was an eerily calm rage in his voice when Jax made this threatening comment, and he was staring directly at his soon-to-be ex.

Later, Brittany ran through a litany of charges against Jax, all of which he nodded his head yes to, likely since he knew their cameras had already aired the proof of his actions. But then, Brittany revealed a new claim, stating that, in a heated moment, Jax pushed her into a rose bush. As she spoke, her voice became louder. Then, Brittany apologized, saying, “Sorry, it [Jax’s actions] just makes me mad.”

Jax denied a specific allegation, but other Valley cast members confirmed they’d seen Ring camera footage

On this new charge of Jax pushing Brittany into a rose bush, Jax immediately cried foul. However, other cast members have seen footage from their Ring camera, Brittany revealed.

Once Jax denied this new allegation, Zack Wickham and Kristen Doute shot him down. They supported Brittany by nodding their heads, fully verifying her claims. Following this, Jax sighed, annoyed. However, his deflective proclamations ceased.

Additionally, Lala Kent has also seen this footage. On her podcast, Give Them Lala, she spoke about how it disturbed her so much that she had no choice but to issue a warning to her friend. “If you don’t get out, someone’s going to end up dead,” Lala urged. Her statement is valid, as Jax seems to be growing darker by the season.

My main takeaway is that Lala made this statement on her public platform. She is a reality television vet. Therefore, she understands that false claims can lead to lawsuits. Yet, she spoke up about this domestic abuse incident with her whole chest, as did Kristen and Zack on the reunion soundstage, giving more than enough burden of proof on this incident.

The comments were glossed over, and Jax wasn’t called out appropriately

So far, Jax is not being held accountable during The Valley Season 2 reunion. His comments are getting glossed over left and right. Again, perhaps legal has entered the conversation regarding the rose bush. However, his statement directed at Brittany, telling her that she should be shaking at the reunion, was spoken loud and clear.

Even still, no one on that reunion soundstage held his little heeled sneakers to the fire to make him explain why on earth he would threaten Brittany, not even Andy Cohen, (unless this footage got cut, that is). Instead, Andy shifted the focus to Brittany and her fling with Julian, which, according to Jax, triggered his abusive reactions.

All threats and claims of harm are important to address. Yet, Jax is still sliding through this crack. Instead of making this man exit stage left immediately, the network chose to focus on what sets him off instead.

Now, we still have two more parts left for The Valley Season 2 reunion. So, hopefully, accountability is on its way for Jax. Yet, from everything that I have seen thus far, it is clear to see that the reunion is failing Brittany while favoring Jax, and I, for one, hate it.

The Valley is available to stream on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
