Tom Sandoval has been living his rock star dreams. Tom and his cover band, Tom Sandoval and The Most Extras, had some momentum moving into the quarterfinals of America’s Got Talent. However, when they took the stage, Tom and his band had a rough night.
Tom, who was once reviled for his cheating scandal on Vanderpump Rules, hoped to find some redemption through his musical career. So, what would winning AGT mean to Tom? “That would be so amazing,” the Pump Rules alum previously stated. However, with 11 acts performing, only three will be voted through by America.
Simon Cowell wasn’t impressed with Tom Sandoval and the Most Extras on AGT quarterfinal show
Tom and his band performed The Weeknd’s hit, Blinding Lights. The song started with Tom, sporting a hat and sunglasses, playing his trumpet. I guess we should all be thankful it wasn’t his prized penis flute. In addition, his sparkly costume gave me low-rent Michael Jackson vibes.
Not long into the performance, Tom pulled out his earpiece. His vocals were weak, and overall, the performance was underwhelming. He did bust out some dance moves that involved a lot of sliding and pointing his finger.
About midway through the song, judge Simon Cowell gave Tom the red buzzer. “Well, I like Tom and I like the band. However, you know, you’re judging this performance. It didn’t sound great,” Simon explained. “Look, it might just be me from where I sat, but that did not sound good, I’m afraid.”
Sofia Vergara “loved the dancing,” but she echoed Simon’s sentiments. “The sound was not amazing, but this was super entertaining.” Meanwhile, Mel B. continued to praise the band, while Howie Mandel was confident that they would get bookings.
When asked how he felt about the performance, Tom stated, “I feel great. Umm, right before I went on, my inner ears kind of went out, so I was kind of flying in the dark there.” Viewers could hear what sounded like Mel B. respond off-camera, “Tom, don’t make excuses.” The singer responded, “I’m not” repeatedly.
America’s Got Talent airs on Wednesday, August 20 at 8/7c on NBC.
