Lisa Vanderpump is seemingly putting her proverbial neck on the line for James Kennedy once again. The SUR owner is facing backlash after her restaurant advertised a DJ event with the former Vanderpump Rules star for later in September 2025.
This is not the first time that the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum was called out for supporting James. It took several months after his arrest in December 2024 for Lisa to publicly distance herself from him. But now it seems that she is giving her former protege carte blanche. At least to DJ in her West Hollywood hot spot.

“It starts with a pulse,” the official SUR Instagram page reads. The event is called Tunes by James Kennedy, and is on James’ favorite night of the week. Clearly, he wanted to step away from the See You Next Tuesday circuit.
According to the post, “proceeds from the event will be donated to Midnight Mission.” The organization provides services to the homeless of Los Angeles.
The SUR promo invites patrons to, “Get ready to dance, celebrate, and give back!” And, “join @itsjameskennedy for an electrifying evening of sounds at SUR.”
James was arrested last year on suspicion of domestic violence after he and his then-girlfriend, Ally Lewber, had a fight in front of their house. The police decided not to press charges. But the professional astrologer decided to end the relationship with the VPR alum.
On the professional front, James was pushed out of a lot of bookings as public opinion turned. He has stayed relatively under the radar. But perhaps this booking at SUR was a way to gauge whether he can regain some ground. Comments on the post are divided between support and disdain for the decision to host him.
