Here’s a serious case of post-and-delete. Nia Sanchez from The Valley went on her Instagram Story to complain about a park “infested with unhoused people.” It’s a wild thing to say, especially considering her own experience being unhoused. Although she has since deleted the post, fans are still talking about it.
Nia Sanchez has since deleted her Instagram Story about “unhoused people”

In a since-deleted Instagram Story, Nia jumped on her phone to rant about how her son’s birthday wasn’t going as planned. She set out to do a few different activities. Nothing panned out correctly, and she wound up taking the kids to a park. However, she didn’t like what she saw when she got there.
“This place is, like, infested with unhoused people,” Nia groaned. “The ones who are awake seem like they’re partaking in things that are not healthy, and it’s just like, what the heck?”
Ultimately, Nia felt like the unhoused people at the park were a small element of the many things that went wrong with her day. To many, it’s an insensitive way to talk about people experiencing a difficult time. Fans of The Valley wasted no time letting her know that.
The Reddit community, r/TheValleyTVShow, lit up, calling out Nia for her “dehumanizing” language. While many felt she was valid in wanting to have a safe space to play with her kids, most fans took offense at the word “infested.”
“To me: it’s the terminology she used, not the sentiment,” wrote one The Valley fan.
Another person wrote, “I completely agree with you, those are the wrong terms to be using because these people are in fact people, not cockroaches.”
To Nia’s credit, she deleted the post after receiving feedback. A Redditor shared a screenshot of an alleged DM, where she admitted to making the wrong call with that post.
“I honestly don’t know why I used that word and removed the story,” Nia supposedly wrote. “It was not the right choice. I’m truly sorry.”
The Valley is streaming on Peacock, or Hayu in Canada, the UK and Ireland.
