Lisa Vanderpump has always marched to the beat of her own drum and never lets anyone’s opinion bring her down. So despite some backlash, she says that the Vanderpump Rules reboot on Bravo is a hit. And she has a very unique way of knowing when the show is making an impact.
Lisa Vanderpump wants the new VPR cast to become “a pain in my ass”
Fans have been anxious to know what the new VPR would be like since the show announced a reboot and went on a hiatus for a little over a year. The newly rebooted show just premiered, and although it went to number one on Peacock, fans are split on the new direction. However, Lisa isn’t fussed.
“Screw the naysayers,” Lisa said to Page Six at her annual Vanderpump Dogs Foundation Gala in Beverly Hills. “I’m very excited about the new cast. Hopefully, this time next year they’ll be a pain in my ass, because that’s when you know the show’s a success!”
By that metric, the former VPR was a smash indeed. Between Scandoval and all the issues the former cast went through, they must have indeed been a big pain in Lisa’s you-know-what.
For now, VPR features a new group of SUR-vers from Lisa’s West Hollywood restaurant. Fans tuned into the premiere, but rumors say the show could already be in trouble. Allegedly low ratings and fans’ mixed reactions could prompt Bravo to pull the plug. According to sources, Bravo execs aren’t sure the show is as good as it used to be.
Andy Cohen, though, agrees with Lisa. He assures fans there’s more to gauging a show’s success than just ratings, especially live ratings. So he’s dismissing cancellation rumors. For now, the new cast of VPR still has time to get on Lisa’s nerves, which is the true hallmark for a hit as far as she’s concerned!
Vanderpump Rules airs on Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo. It can be streamed on Peacock the next day.
