Season 12 of Vanderpump Rules debuted with all-new faces. And while viewer reaction has been mixed, I feel that the newbies need a chance to establish themselves. And one of the cast stand-outs, Shayne Davis, doesn’t even work at SUR. Still, his charm and interesting backstory make him memorable.
Meanwhile, Lisa Vanderpump is already proclaiming the reboot’s success. “Just got the good news that Vanderpump Rules is thriving … the Season 12 premiere reached 2.6 million viewers across platforms, making it bigger than all new series in 2025!” she wrote via Instagram. Still, the VPR cast needs a moment to win over fans.
Shayne Davis says, “I know what my life looks like…”

“I almost didn’t do it, to be honest with you,” Shayne told PEOPLE. “I know what my life looks like, and it ain’t always great. And I was like, ‘Damn, is that something I really want out?’ This is, they’re following your life, and they’re going to see it all, and so that really made me nervous,” he added.
So, how did Shayne come to join the cast? His friend and co-star, Marcus Jordan, convinced him. “I eat here a lot. I’m also at AA meetings on this street,” Shayne explained. “So Lisa saw me and was like, ‘This guy’s got to do it.’ And he asked me to, and I was like, ‘Well, I can’t let my boy go to war alone.'”
He continued with a laugh, “I’m curious to see if I’m a sh*tty dude or not. Because I don’t know.” Shayne added, “But I know that if I’m a sh*tty dude, I’m going to try to work on it, so it might even be therapeutic, some might say.”
And this “player with a heart of gold” was shot three times by his best friend. The incident left him paralyzed below the waist. Now Shayne is physically healed and is three years sober, living his best life on television.
Vanderpump Rules airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo. It streams on Peacock the next day.
