RHOBH’s Amanda Frances Discusses Losing Her Son Zion

Season 15 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills gifted us two new housewives. Fashionista Rachel Zoe previously had her own reality show on Bravo, The Rachel Zoe Project. Meanwhile, “Money Queen” Amanda Frances was all about manifesting wealth and abundance.

Unfortunately for Amanda, she had a tendency to rub some people the wrong way. Sutton Stracke and Erika Jayne were wary of her and her motives. And Kathy Hilton called her “a little annoying.” Plus, Dorit Kemsley wasn’t happy that Amanda was discussing her divorce from PK Kemsley. It was a lot for the newbie to handle.

During a recent episode of RHOBH, Amanda discussed the loss of her son, Zion. Her twin sons, Zion and Canaan, were born 11 weeks prematurely. “Zion’s placenta was faulty, so he was having a hard time in the womb. Zion, unfortunately, died in my arms the first time I ever held him,” Amanda explained in a confessional. He was only five days old when he passed. And Canaan spent 68 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

The week of Canaan’s birthday weighs heavily on Amanda. “Every year, it’s the most joyful and sad week. I can’t think of everything Canaan overcame to be a 3-year-old, without thinking of Zion not making it,” Amanda shared in a confessional. “It’s just all in the week.”

The heartbreaking anniversary of Canaan’s death fell on the night of Rachel’s psychic dinner party. After Dorit tried to start an argument at dinner, Amanda announced that it was the anniversary of Zion’s death. “Zion died three years ago today, and I’m holding on by a thread,” the grieving mom said. I really appreciate Amanda’s vulnerability in these moments.

However, when Dorit continued to come after Amanda, the newbie decided to leave. Later, Dorit wiped away Amanda’s tears as she stood by the door. “Don’t touch me right now, please,” Amanda told her co-star.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs on Thursdays at 8/7c on Bravo. It streams on Peacock.
