Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Denise Richards has had a tough time in the world of Hollywood. First there was her tumultuous relationship with Charlie Sheen. She was pregnant with their second child when she filed for divorce in 2005.
Currently, she’s going through a messy divorce from second husband Aaron Phypers, who she claims was abusive to her. They were only engaged for two days back in 2018 before tying the knot in an intimate Malibu ceremony.
Earlier this week, Denise got the news that her former boyfriend and close friend Patrick Muldoon had died suddenly. He was only 57.

Patrick’s girlfriend Miriam Rothbart found the Melrose Place star dead in the shower of his Beverly Hills home. Though an official cause of death has yet to be released, it’s believed he had a heart attack.
“Denise has been through a lot,” a friend told the Daily Mail. “Last year was one of the hardest of her life. She was working on regaining her strength, but then this unfortunate news about her best friend Patrick has broken her again.”
In a tribute posted to her Instagram, Denise wrote, “I am deeply heartbroken … The friendship, love, support, respect & loyalty we had was unconditional and rare. You lit up every room you walked into. You are larger than life & Everyone was drawn to you … I love you so much & miss you dearly schweetbabe.”
The couple met in acting class when she was just 19 and he was 21. “You were my best friend & my family,” she wrote. “My whole adult life & I don’t know it without you.”
Their bond was so strong that even Denise’s daughter with Charlie, Lola Sheen, had hopes they’d someday get back together. “The bond you two had was something so special, that no one can touch,” she wrote on Instagram. “When I think of my mom I think of you. You guys came as a package and I’m so thankful I got to know you and witness a friendship so pure and special in front of my eyes.”
“I always begged my mom … that you guys would end up back together haha,” she continued. “But I guess staying best friends was better anyways.”
Another source close to Denise said that she is “inconsolable” over Patrick’s death and “can’t stop crying.”
