Word on the street is that Meghan Markle is making a Hollywood comeback with a “Suits” reboot — and experts believe it is suitable for her. The Duchess of Sussex has been spending the past few years trying to find her footing as a lifestyle entrepreneur with “As Ever,” but some royal experts note that her future might look a lot more like her past. And they say that her future is firmly in Hollywood.
Experts discuss Meghan Markle’s Hollywood prospects amid ‘Suits’ comeback rumors
On the latest episode of the “Royal Exclusive” podcast, former Sun royal editor Charles Rae and Newsweek royal correspondent Jack Royston broke down Meghan Markle’s latest brand relaunch and the persistent rumors of a Hollywood comeback with “Suits.” Rae did not hold back while discussing where he thought the Duchess truly belongs.
Rae said, “I accept that the difference between Meghan is she’s more Hollywood than she is royal. There’s no doubt about that.”
The conversation turned to the possibility of a “Suits” feature film, which would reunite the core cast of the legal drama that made Markle famous, especially since the series has recently returned to the spotlight on Netflix. Now, the idea of Markle stepping back into Rachel Zane’s heels has industry watchers looking.
Royston believes she should take the role without hesitation, telling the panel of experts, “My personal view is Meghan should be — she should act in it,” and “She should star in it,” adding, “I think it’s crazy that she didn’t go back to ‘Suits’ when she came back to America.” Moreover, he noted that the show’s current popularity could give the former actor some cultural relevance.
Rae agreed that a return to acting could work for Markle — and she could do really well — but he warned that being related to the royal family as “Meghan, Duchess of Sussex,” is all that she has to her name now.
After years of putting in work, the experts seem to agree that Meghan Markle’s most powerful asset is the fame she earned in Hollywood with “Suits,” long before she entered the royal family.
