“Behind the scenes, the snub has absolutely been interpreted as more than just a missed invitation. For Meghan, it was seen as a very visible statement about where she currently stands in Hollywood and fashion circles,” the insider claimed.
Furthermore, another source mentioned that Markle seemed to think her relationship with Wintour improved after Paris Fashion Week. The two met in November 2025 at the event and greeted each other warmly. Therefore, the duchess reportedly assumed that she and Prince Harry would receive the Met Gala invitation from Wintour.
Apparently, Markle was looking forward to making her debut with her husband at the gala this year.
