Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Garcelle Beauvais has said that one of her former Real Housewives stars asked her to “keep race out” of the show. In a new podcast interview, she recalled the alleged incident, which happened over a drink just before her second season.
Garcelle Beauvais opened up about how she was “taken aback” by the comment
Speaking on Radio Andy, Garcelle said one of her fellow RHOBH stars asked her for a drink ahead of filming, which she thought would be an opportunity to chat about the season ahead and “connect.”
However, things took a turn when, according to Garcelle, the housewife said, “Can we keep race out of it? It’s an entertaining [sic] show.”
To that, Garcelle said she was – rightfully – “very taken aback.”
“I show up, and my race shows up with me,” she went on. “And if this is truly reality, don’t you want to see my reality, too?”
“You can’t negate who I am,” the former housewife added of the comment. “That was a tough one.”
In the comment section on Instagram, there was a mixed response from Bravo viewers. Some theorized which housewife could have made the alleged comments, while others expressed their sadness over Garcelle’s decision to quit the show.
“It drives me insane when we can’t call out people’s racist names. I wanna know who on the cast said this,” one person commented. “Name ‘em,” someone else said, quoting Sutton Brown’s iconic line from the show.
“I miss Garcelle!” another viewer wrote. “I miss Garcelle on the show; she’s sincere,” agreed someone else.
“Garcelle was so gracious. I could never have done that show with so much disrespect,” added another.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is available to stream on Peacock.
