Garcelle Beauvais Left RHOBH After Realizing She ‘Didn’t Have Any Friends’ on the Show

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is missing some closure still. Garcelle Beauvais’ abrupt departure from the Season 14 reunion still feels like a shock. The Haitian-American actress and producer opted out of the RHOBH cast photo and walked off stage, to the shock of her costars.

A full season later, and Garcelle is still answering questions about her decision. She is at peace with it. So much so, that she’s ruled out a stint on Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip.

The former Real Housewives star’s “spirit” led her to leave the series

At People Inc.’s Black Affinity Group’s Legacy Chat series, Garcelle shared her moment of clarity and why her “spirit” told her it was time to move on. However, she admitted to moderator Kareema Bee at the May 7 event, that the show “changed” her life.

“First of all, when I joined that show,” Garcelle said. “I mean, obviously I knew the show and I had friends on the show, and I knew it was popular. I had no idea that me being announced was going to go, like, crazy viral.”

The RHOBH alum recalled “trending on Twitter” after being cast as the first Black woman to join the show.

Garcelle shared, “It gave me a new audience that I didn’t have before. It gave me a different, in terms of brand recognition and all that, but knowing when to leave, my spirit was not … My spirit was no longer there. I couldn’t do it anymore. I just couldn’t do it.”

Sitting on the reunion stage, Garcelle recalled thinking, “I felt like I didn’t have any friends. And if the show is based on friendships, I didn’t have any friends on that show anymore.” Ultimately, “it just didn’t feel right.” And that compelled her to leave the stage, though she felt, as “an immigrant, you don’t leave jobs.”

Garcelle concluded, “My spirit just didn’t feel like that’s where I needed to be.”

The Survival of the Thickest actress likened the decision to putting herself first. She said, “I chose me in the marriage when I walked away. I chose me here. You gotta do like the movie and get out. Because life is too short. This is our one time. There’s no do-overs. This is not a rehearsal.”

Of course, being an “independent” woman provides feasible choices, like walking “away.”

“Keep the joys that you wanna keep. Take out the negativity that you don’t want in your life. And I always feel like God will provide if you take that leap of faith,” Garcelle concluded.
