A source close to King Charles has revealed that it was the monarch who orchestrated Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s return to the UK. The Sussexes flew back privately to Britain on August 26. As per multiple outlets, the couple landed in Birmingham at midday and will reportedly reside in a private, non-royal home in the Cotswolds. Now, it is believed the King had a part to play in the Sussexes shifting back to Britain.
A royal source says King Charles viewed Prince Harry’s return as a strategic decision for the family
A royal source claimed that Prince Harry was indirectly encouraged by King Charles to return to the UK. A friend of the monarch has dished to The Daily Beast that the Duke of Sussex was “informally encouraged” by his father to return to Britain because he believes the royal family is “stronger united.” They further shared, “The king’s faith has played a part, but ultimately this is a strategic decision for the good of the family. The stand-off needed to be resolved.”
The anonymous friend also dished that the King made it clear that Prince William and the future of the monarchy were his “top priority.” However, Charles has reportedly made it clear that the Sussexes’ position as non-working royals remains and that there will be no change there.
Meanwhile, RadarOnline reported that ex-Prince Andrew is “relieved” that Harry and Markle were returning to the UK because it would divert the media and public’s attention from his controversies. For those unversed, the former Duke of York has been in the news for his ties to the late sex convict Jeffrey Epstein.
“Andrew is under no illusion about the seriousness of his own circumstances, but Harry and Meghan returning has completely transformed the royal news agenda,” a source said. “Suddenly everyone is talking about where the Sussexes will live, their relationship with the King and what happens with William. From Andrew’s perspective, having somebody else at the center of the royal storm inevitably provides some relief.”
