Marilyn Manson Sexual Assault Lawsuit Being Reconsidered

Trigger Warning: This article contains some discussion of sexual assault.

A sexual assault lawsuit against Marilyn Manson has been revived, due to a new law passed in California this month. Marilyn, real name Brian Warner, was sued by his former assistant, Ashley Walters.

Ashley first came into contact with the singer in 2010, and filed a lawsuit against him in 2021. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Steve Cochran originally dismissed the case last month. However, Ashley will now be allowed to present the case in court again.

Thanks to Assembly Bill 250, a bill enacted in California from this Monday, alleged victims will have more time to file claims. Ashley’s suit against Marilyn is subject to this new change in legislation.

In the suit, Ashley said she first met Marilyn online in 2010, and the two arranged to meet. According to the filings, he pushed her onto a bed, pinned her arms, tried to kiss her, bit her ear, and forced her hand into his underwear. Ashley said she was then a victim of physical and emotional abuse during their relationship, which saw her hired as the singer’s assistant.

During her time in the job, Ashley alleges that the abuse entailed “whipping her, throwing plates at her, forcing her to stand on a chair for extended periods, and throwing her into a wall” during “drug-fueled rages.”

The former assistant also alleged she witnessed Marilyn physically abuse his former fiancée, Evan Rachel Wood. The filings also state Ashley had to secretly supplied food and drinks to Marilyn’s “starving and distraught” girlfriends.

“We are thrilled for Ms. Walters,” Bina Ahmad, an attorney representing Ashley, told Deadline after the hearing. “She has never given up fighting for justice.”

Marilyn continues to deny all allegations made against him by his former assistant.
